Anyone know where I can get a custom stroller made???

Hi, I've looked on the internet but I'm not really coming up with anything. We go to various parks, including Disney, EVERY weekend and do alot of walking. I have a 10 year old and a 3 year old. My oldest son has inflamed growth plates in both heels and the doctor said they wouldn't fuse up until about 14 years of age. Any excessive strain could cause them to break but obviously we have to go on with life. Right now I have them both riding in a nice Mountain Buggy and while it's great and strolls easily it just doesn't fit them properly.

I have a more appropriate looking stroller/buggy designed on paper but I need someone to build it. Does anyone know where I start????

You may try a medical supply company. Adaptivemall.com and especialneed.com have a double stroller that holds a total of 150lbs. If one of the wheelchair companies can make one for you, expect to spend well over a thousand dollars for it. Sadly, anything medical costs a lot more.

Why not just use a juvenile wheelchair for your eldest? Does he have an upper-body impairment as well? At 10, most healthy kids who have normal upper-body strength are able to self-propel a right-sized lightweight wheelchair under most circumstances. You would probably need to help on hills sometimes, but that would only be a very occasional thing at WDW.

Are you looking to build something that fits both your 10 year old AND your 3 year old????
I agree with PP - to custom build a stroller is going to cost a lot of bucks.
If this is something you're looking to get to last until your DS is 14 you probably won't want to go the stroller route, KWIM?
Wouldn't know what to suggest, maybe a Tech school would be able to create something?

I think what you need is more like a wheelchair than a stroller.

I work for an agency that provides lots of varied services for people with developmental (and physical) disabilities. We have a resource center that specifically finds and provides medical and other devices for people with specific needs. I would suggest that you see if there is such a place in your area.
