Usually reservations for the following year become available in June of the current year. (You used to be able to make "room only" reservations over the phone 499 days in advance but that changed recently to have the availability be open the same time it goes live online.)
Yep, basically they moved to only allowing next year reservations when they released "package" prices in that June-ish timeframe. In the past that's when we could book the next year online for room only reservations as well after the package pricing was released.
Of course, no commitment as to when that will be but the rumor mill picks up a few days before hand. So that means, @bigdisneydaddy, that you'll have to run the clock down to about 7-8 months before your trip when you can make a reservation. And you had mentioned how awkward this is when trying to plan other places to visit in Florida in February when they allow 11 months or more windows to make reservations.
We've always done packages and the 'release date' is normally between the 5th and the 18th of June. I normally start 'haunting' the reservation website the last week of May 'just in case'.
