Anyone know what happened at Aerosmith this week?

Oh how funny! Were you the folks next to us, that noticed I was number 3 in the overall ranking when they showed some of the audience rankings?

I don't remember that for sure, but pointing out someone doing well nearby is for sure something that I would do (as if I'm smarter by sitting near someone who is lol).

If I remember correctly from past posts, I think our mothers would have gotten along great. My 81yo mom ended up riding almost all the rides at WDW and Unviersal. Only skipped the upside down coasters and Dr Doom at Universal. Everything else she did once, if not more. I was truly amazed! She especially liked Mission:Space and commented when she got off the first time that she "wishes that it were longer". And I was afraid that she would throw up (I almost said "upchuck" and changed it to "throw up" in honor of you. ;) ).

She hadn't planned on using a wheelchair, but fell at MGM in an uneven part of the sidewalk and bruised her elbow horribly, and then agreed to the chair, which made it a lot easier for us to get around quickly and didn't tire her out quite as much.

I hope that you and your mom had a fun time!

love the ride!! sorry to hear it wasn't working

I was also there New Year's Eve and had to leave the line twice. We gave up by midafternoon.

Sounds like it's having some technical difficulties. Wonder if we're going to see it go down again for rehab soon.

But have nver thought of it as a smooth coaster. I also think it bangs your head around. The front is better then the back. I always end up with a headache if I ride in the back and I have to hold my head slightly off the seat otherwise I'd have whiplash. The Hulk at Islands of Adventure, now that's what I call smooth. Not one jerk or vibration on that ride at all. The Kraken at Sea World is also very smooth. Hope it's up and running when we get there. DS is 48 1/2 inches and is very excited for this one although now I have to worry about his head banging around!

OOOOH :earseek: That is HIGHLY unusual. RnR is known to be very smooth.

I think this ride is a very jerky ride. I try to keep my head back, against the headrest, but it won't stay there. I usually come off with a headache.

We got as far as the boarding area on Christmas Day and the ride went down. Maintenance man walked down the track and then shortly after they made everyone leave, said they were closing it down, and gave us a fast pass good until 1/15. As we were exiting the man ahead of us asked the CM what was happening and the CM said something about this being the 3rd time. Sounds like they are having some technical difficulties.

We have friends who have been coming to WDW for several years.
They once mentioned they have been riding RnRC since it opened. They said it was originally a very smooth ride. Over the years it has progressively become rougher.
The further back you sit, the worse it is. The front is not bad at all.

I don't like the back of the train, it is bumpier. I've found the same thing on Space Mountain. The front is smoother.

We skipped RnRC because we thought it might be to jerky for DS. He wasn't sure he wanted to go upside down, either. But I do think it was running when we were there 1/13.

When we were going to ride Space Mtn. during EMH it was closed because someone's hat blew onto the tracks. A CM was telling us the ride would reopen shortly. DS must not have been listening very closely because he said "Someone's HEAD blew off in the ride?" Now that's how rumors get started!

Compared with BTMRR and Space Mountain, RnR is EXTREMELY smooth... if kids can handle those, RnR is a piece of cake.

We are local and probably ride RnR a couple of times a month, although we haven't since October.... back injury (unrelated to RnR), so maybe it has gotten rougher since then. We have never thought of it as being jerky, but just from experience from riding many, many rollercoasters, including Kracken at Seaworld(easily the best and smoothest), Kumba, Montu, and that double wooden rollercoaster in Busch Gardens Tampa-- (the wooden one is easily the most rough I have ever ridden-- ouch!) Loch Ness Monster, Alpineguist, Apollo's Chariot, Wild Maus, Big Bad Wolf and the now dismantled and defunct Drachen Fire (talk about hitting your head and whiplash :earseek: .... this one should have been called "Ambulance Chaser's Dream"--- there were so many complaints, it was sold to another park!-- need to find out where so we can avoid it), Volcano, The Grizzly, The Scooby Doo, The Rebel Yell, and the steel rail at Kings Dominion... all are a bit rougher the further to the back you sit. I used to like that aspect, but now I TRY to get up front! Front seat is the best view, anyway!

I can confirm that I rode R n R on 1/14 and it seemed to be up and running fine but it did have a slight jerkiness to it which i don't remember being there before.

There was a rumor awhile back that someone was decapitated on Space Mountain. I'm assuming it was not true, that would have been all over the news.

I don't mean to nitpick but Drachen Fire wasn't sold. They tried to sell it but never found a buyer, so it went to the scrapheap.

Yes, that was a rumor. I beleive it was a test dummy that was decapitated while the ride was being tested.

THisis the only link I found. I am sure somebody here has something more concrete.

We rode it on 1/7 and it was working fine. However, we had the back seat and I couldn't believe how jerky it was!!! It "used" to be my favorite Disney ride. Now I won't go on it again. I left the ride feeling out of sorts and with a headache. We had fastpasses to do it again, and I wouldn't go on. I remember it a few years ago being a smooth ride. This time it was really, really bad. In fact, I couldn't even focus on any of the graphics in the ride because my head was jerking around so much. I had to try very hard to hold it straight and it just wasn't working. Even the loops were very jerky, and that made it even worse. I may give it another chance on our next trip, but only if we get a seat near the front.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who noticed a difference.

We rode RnR on 1/9 and sat in the second row, ouch, that thing shook my head so much it hurt.

Ever try "The Hurler" at Paramount's Carowinds? Whew! Hang on to whatever you can!! Sounds like you're a coaster nut like my kids and me. I think we have hit all of those on your list too!
