SoCal weather is perfect all year around pretty much. But it will be warmer at Universal Studios since it is in "the valley" The only time SoCal weather isn't sunny and 75-80 is in January-Feb when you get rain once in a while.

Disneyland and universal are about 40 miles apart. Are you renting a car?

BTW IMHO, Universal is a one (maybe2) day park. If you like rollorcoasters, Magic mountian (six flags) is just north of Universal. Knotts Berry farm is real close to disneyland, but not worth the admission if you ask me.

I lived there for 4 years and know alot about the area, let me know if you have any questions.

This past September was very warm and we had humidity - something we don't get very often. They are predicting a hotter Summer than last year so our September temps could be upper 80's to upper 90's. You should not need jackets or long pants.

In my experience, the last few Sept and Oct in Anaheim have had record high temps. We're talking 90+ degrees.

Lightweight jackets are always in order for the evenings as they tend to cool off quite a bit. September and October are perfect times to come because attendence is low at the parks at this time. Magic Mountain is great for coasters but kinda run down (although they are trying to spruce it up a bit) Universal is my DHs favorite park out here, My son loves Knotts (he's 14) and I will always and forever be a DLR fanatic. Or anything Disney for that matter.

I am a local here and have been an AP holder for many years. If you have questions, please ask.

We are renting a car, first I was going into Burbank then driving to DL BUT the airfare was $184.00 to LB and 449 to Burback, guess what won I picked, you got it, I'll drive to Universal from LB
I looked on the somputer, it is 40 miles, hope there is no traffic. :rotfl:

I know in N. CA, September is one of our hottest months, but it is dry. I am assuming that S. CA follows a similar pattern. I would look at weather.com's historical temps and precip. We've only been over Labor Day so I'm not a lot of help with the rest of the month.

ha ha, no taffic in socal, that's funny!!!!!

You get used to it though. If you are going to DL first, LB is the way to go. Directions to DL are pretty easy (maybe 30 minutes) from LB airport I'll give you directions if you like...you don't have to spend the whole time on the freeway. If you are going to Universal first, its about 40 miles as you found..but will probably be an hour or so depending on taffic, that's pretty much all freeway driving.

If you're planning on going this year, I would suggest avoiding Labor Day weekend. It's already going to be crowded because of the 3-day weekend but since they're also holding the DL 1/2 Marathon on Labor Day, it'll be super crowded for sure.

Weather-wise, it might be hot during the day but pack a jacket for the evenings, just in case it cools down a bit. Better safe than sorry.

Universal is up in the Hollywood Hills above the main Hollywood strip. You can look down on the other studios and the valley from the back of the lot. Much hotter up there than in anaheim. It is 31 miles from anaheim but can take up to 1.5 hours to get there depending on the time you travel. I just love the park, but I also loke old horror films.
