Hi all! I'm trying to plan a Nov WDW trip and I heard there is a teachers convention then. I have 2 kids under 2, but I am trying to book it when the other kids will be at school so it's not that crowded. I'm obviously not a teacher, and don't know much about these conventions, so my questions are:
(1) is there a national teacher convention in florida some time this November?
(2) does each state have their teacher conventions on the same or different dates?
(3) if the convention dates vary per state, does anyone know when the florida teachers have their conventions? ( I say Florida b/c I'm just figuring that these childen have an easier access to WDW than those children from the rest of the country).
Thanks for any replies!!

November 10th and 11th this year. It is NJ Teachers Convention, and a lot of people take advantage of the long weekend to get in a trip to Disney.

Minnesota has their state teacher convention in October.

Here's a list of upcoming NJEA conventions. I'm assuming you mean our state, since we're famous for the "Jersey Week" on these boards! ;)

All public and most private schools in Louisiana are off Thanksgiving week. We all joke and say if you go to WDW during this time, you are bound to see friends that you haven't seen in years.

Thanks guys! I asked b/c I was trying to plan a trip in early Nov., but I didn't want it to be that same week b/c I was trying to avoid the crowds (I have 2 little ones under 3 yrs) who took advantage of the teacher conventions. But I guess it really doesn't matter since the conventions differ for every state and I'm sure alot of families will try to take advantage of the time off from school to enjoy WDW in Nov. So I'll just go ahead and book my trip for Nov 11-15 as I had planned BEFORE I even knew that NJ teachers conventions is that same exact time. My dumb luck! :crazy2: Oh well!!!
Thanks guys!!!

Just a note - that's not just 'Jersey Week', it's also the last weekend of the Food and Wine Festival at Epcot (closes the 13th), the Festival of the Masters at Downtown Disney (11-13, I believe), AND the Super Soaps Weekend (with ABC soap opera stars) that weekend at MGM (Friday and Saturday).

Of course, I'M going to be there . . . :rolleyes1 , but if I were looking for a nice uncrowded trip, that would not be it.

If crowds are important to you, do NOT go during Jersey Week. Also, keep in mind that schools in FLA are off on Election day (Nov 8) and really increase park attendance - water parks were CRAZY when we were there in 2002. Throw in Veteran's Day (Nov 11), and I'll bet that Jersey Week will be nuts this year. Lots of people go and enjoy it very much, but if you have a choice, choose different dates.

Nov 14th - 18th should be fairly slow. We went last year during that week and it was great!! The weekends are always going to be more busy - the weekend of Nov 12th is Super Soap Weekend at MGM - huge crowds and the last days of Food and Wine at Epcot - very busy. (Festival of the Masters doesn't seem to have any impact on how crowded things are - wasn't even all that crowded at Downtown Disney when we went.) The weekend before Thanksgiving will be busy. When we left, the CM's said that occupancy was going from 50% while we were there (POFQ) to 85% the night we were leaving to 100% closer to Thanksgiving.

I agree with sanibelover. If you didn't book this trip yet, and can go the following week, do it.

It definitely will be more crowded that weekend, with all that's going on.
