Just read on another board - guess it will not less me post the link that says Fountainview remains closed and is easily seen empty through all of the glass windows. Has anyone else heard this?

I love this place and we go here every trip. I will be highly disappointed if it's going to close permanently. They have the best egg croissants and a decent iced mocha.

I'd be mortified if they did!!! I love their fruit croissants.

If it is closed I think the food court in the land serves breakfast items.
They have a great backery counter there.

why would they close it every time i go i've had to wait in a good size line.I hope someone can shed some light on this:confused3

according to Laughingplace.com: Fountain View Cafe closed
As of January 2 the Fountain View Cafe at Epcot has been closed. It should reopen at a later date.

according to *****************- Character Spot Opening Date

Epcot's Character Spot, which will provide an interactive character greeting area themed to the original Epcot Future World pavilions is scheduled to open in June. It replaces the Chracter Connection and will be housed in the former Pasta Piazza restaurant location behind the Fountainview Cafe.

Also, it is currently unknown if the Fountainview Cafe will return to service once construction of the new venue is completed.

Last year, during F & W, it was a wine bar. I'm guessing it'll be the same this year.
We go 3-4X per year and haven't seen it open for coffee, etc. in a long, long time. :sad2:
Can't understand why it closed since we always saw plenty of customers there every time we went. :confused3

It was so nice to sit outside and watch the fountains do their "dance to music" while sipping coffee and eating a delicious snack! :goodvibes

It was closed when we were there December 3-7 of 2006. I was so disappointed because I remember really enjoying their food for breakfast!

:confused3

I hope this is just an ugly rumor! Not only is it an Epcot tradition for our family but it is the site of one of my favorite memories. On a busy day to just sit and sip a good drink with a great pastry and watch the fountains was a little piece of heaven to me.

Say it ain't so!

That really is too bad. We have only seen it open once in our trips in recent years, but we stopped in for a piece of cheesecake that was excellent and enjoyed the quiet atmosphere. I'm not sure why they would feel the need to close it. :confused3

I could swear that when we were there the first week in June that i saw the menu board thingy standing out front. I remember being surprised that I saw it because I thought they were closed for good. Dh and I loved that place.

I don't know if it's just us, but in the last 5 or 6 trips it has always been closed!

It was open October of last year when we were there, but closed on our next trip in February. We really enjoyed getting a good coffee there and sitting outside to watch the fountain, so I hope they will reopen.

when i was at WDW in Dec. it was open in the mornings only - that was bad enough - bummer to hear it is totally closed -
we used to always love getting double espresso's there in the early evening to get a kick start for the night!

When we there Sept '06 we ate there a couple of times for breakfast and used on CS to get the breakfast pocket, truffle cake and a smoothie and enjoyed the view.

A few days later it was converted into a wine bar.:sad1:

I preferred the first.

Does anyone know where I can satisfy my breakfast pocket and truffle cake addiction now??:confused3

One time a very long time ago we used to pop in there on our way out and grab a drink or something and sit on the veranda as the crowds dissapated.

:confused3 That's weird, because we were at Epcot on Dec.4,2006 and we ate breakfast there. Maybe they closed it later in the day.

Very odd, as we went past it on December 4th, but in the early afternoon! I had been telling BF that we could get some good snacks there, went up to the door, and it was closed! I guess we should have gotten up earlier!

We were there for a couple of weeks before the F&W festival started last year and ate there a few times but it seemed it was turned over to a wine tasting place in short order. It could have only been a day or two since we had last eaten there. Never did see it open as anything else afterward and we were there almost every day for another couple of weeks.
