Anyone know if 2008 pts avail at Kidani still?

Hi! We were in the process of adding on with the current incentives, but when we got the paperwork it was an August 09 use year. We thought since we started this process in early July that we would be getting 08 points and would just have to use them after may 1st 09 or bank them. Now I'm rethinking the addon and may wait for BLT. Any thoughts?

Oh, we were offered the matching points for ssr/II/DLR, $500 disney visa credit for using the card, $8 off ppt and 2 aps (since we were at DLR at the time of trying to add on)

I believe 2008 points sold out in June.

We were looking to add on and when I called last week to enquire we were told the points would more than likely be for UY 2009.

We thought it over and called the next day and spoke to our guide, he said that 129 points had become available for 2008 UY, without hesitation we grabbed 100 of those. It's worth asking, something may be available.

We signed our paperwork on July 27th and got 2008 points- UY DEC.
However the 2008 points willl not be active until May 1, 2009. We were also told at the time that they would soon be out of UY DEC and then they would be offering FEB UY.

Jambo House points can be used now because it is open for occupancy. Kidani have to wait until it opens, May 2009.

thanks! Still awaiting a response from DL guide. On the fence as to whether we should just wait for BLT or at least buy more points on our Disney Cruise in Oct.

160 points is just a big difference for us and we'd rather have 2008 points now, even if we just bank them until next year.

Hmmm...

I just bought an add-on at the Chicago event. I wonder what use year I will get? The incentives include a 5-night stay at SSR or AKV (1br) so I bet I will end up with 2009 points and the "free" vacation will be in lieu of getting to use any 2008 points. My use month is September so I would have quite a wait.

However, I will check with my guide as it never hurts to ask. And if I really don't like that I can always cancel the add-on purchase, I guess.

What really matters is the occupancy date of the AKV Unit you purchased. Your AKV points are not valid for stays prior to the occupancy date of the Unit you purchased. With DVC, you are not restricted to staying in the Unit you purchased. You can stay in any Unit in that resort or in a Unit in another resort. To keep the system in balance, they can't allow you to use your points to stay in another Unit if the one you purchased is not yet ready for occupancy. That restriction is also why you won't have to pay any dues until the later of: your purchase date, the start of your initial Use Year and the occupancy date of the Unit you purchased. Since you can't use the points for stays prior to the occupancy date, they don't charge you maintenance fees on them until on/after that date.

Most of the AKV contracts being sold now are for Units in Kidani with an occupancy date of May 1, 2009. The members who own those contracts can use those points for stays that begin on or after that date. (You can book prior to that date but your stay cannot begin until on/after 5/1/2009.)

There have been a few reports of members getting contracts for Jambo Units. The occupancy dates of those Units could be anywhere between July 1, 2007 and Jan 29, 2008 but it really doesn't matter since all of those dates are in the past. Anyone who purchased one of those contracts can use their points at any time since the Unit they own is already open. They also have to pay maintenance fees starting on the later of their purchase date or the start of their initial Use Year. Since DVC usually starts you with the current UY, dues normally begin on the purchase date.

At some point in the future DVC will be selling contracts for Kidani Units with occupancy dates in September 2009. The members who purchase those contracts will not be able to use those points for stays until on/after the Sep 2009 occupancy date.

I talked to a guide about 3 weeks ago and he said that the current contracts were a Dec UY, receiving points on Dec 1, 2008 that can't be used until after May 1, 2009. When those Dec UY's sell out, will Feb '09 be the next ones available? We're in no hurry since our next vacation isn't until 2010, but we want to get in on the 100 point deal while it lasts. DH still has some inheritance issues that need to be resolved before we can take the plunge. I am just curious as to what UY we might end up with. December is confusing the heck out of me!

My understanding is that it depends on your UY as to whether or not you get 2008 points. We added on Friday with the current promotion. Our UY is October and we got October 2008 points, we just cannot use them until after May 1. Also, we have no maintenance fees until after May.

yeah, i was wrong. some 2008 UYs would have the ability to book between may 2009 and when that 2008 UY ended.
