Anyone know - flying with almond milk in suitcase?

I'm going to WDW with my granddaughter in June. We're vegan. On my last trip, I found that the food courts often have soy milk, which I don't mind, but my granddaughter doesn't like. She prefers almond milk or rice milk. We won't have a car, so I am thinking of packing a box of rice or almond milk in my suitcase so she can have some to drink, put on breakfast cereal, etc.

What do you think? Safe, or likely to explode in the suitcase covering all our clothes with milk?

If you double ziploc bag it, it'll probably be fine. The TSA will probably search your suitcase too because of the extra liquids.

I sometimes bring wine home from Disney and put it in one of the diaper like packages like this one http://www.amazon.com/Diaper-Reusab...d=1368214937&sr=8-1&keywords=wine+diaper+bags

And then put it in a gallon ziploc bag.
I've never had it break but every time I do it, TSA searches my checked luggage.

Thought I'd give you a heads up because I know some folks don't like them messing with their stuff.

Oh, must resist being snarky . . .

I am assuming you will be staying someplace with a refrigerator. Those places usually have a place where you can buy convenience items. Can you see if they have rice or almond milk there?

Also, there are some grocery stores that are willing to deliver to the hotels.

It will not explode. The cargo hold is pressurized. Just put them in a plastic bag in case they get crushed and open up.

We're staying at Pop, and will have a small fridge. They only sell soy milk in the Pop Century store/food court as an alternative to cow's milk.

I could check on getting some milk delivered - I'd assumed that the delivery cost for a single container of almond milk would be awfully high.

What do you want to be snarky about?

I always make a stop on the way to our hotel instead of taking a chance on bringing a fluid on the airline. Orlando is a city like any other, go to a store.

If bell services will accept a package from you -- buy the almond milk that does not refrigeration and send it to yourself via fed ex or ups. to make it cost effective send some cereal and some park snacks ( dried fruits, freeze dried fruits, you know). Should you just go the checked baggage route just have the reservationist check your bag and tell them there is liquid in the suit case. They tag mine so the security for baggage knows and can check it out. Have a good time.

What about the Hess station across from DTD. Could you call and see if they sell Almond milk?

Almond milk will do just fine in your suitcase. As someone else said, just pack in a ziploc just in case it gets squished. We've done this a few times with no issues. And you're right, it would be ridiculously expexsive to just buy almond milk from a delivery service.

We bring home liquor from the Carribean all the time and its fine. DH and I just returned from jamaica last Saturday with 5 bottles of rum in our suitcase and all was good. Wrap it securely and place between your clothes. It will be fine..

It will not explode. What I do is double bag it in freezer bags and then bubble wrap it and stick it in the middle of the suitcase with clothes on top and bottom.

I bring home all kinds of stuff that I can only get in Florida and vice-versa and I've never had anything break.

Just FYI the food courts do have almond milk behind the scenes to make allergy waffles/pancakes. I've been able to get a small cup for my coffee as well. So worst case scenario, you may get able to talk with the chef.

I'd pack it though and double bag. I doubt anywhere around WDW would have almost milk. As a former resort CM and vegan myself, I can't remember seeing it anywhere on property.

I swear I saw it advertised last week somewhere on property...but maybe at Picabo's at the Dolphin. Hmm...

I totally understand. We had to fly with rice milk once because our destination didn't have a trader joes and at that time that was the only store that sold the fortified one. We double bagged it and it did just fine. Have a fun trip!

Ordering from Garden Grocer requires a minimum $40 order and $14 for delivery. I just need one container - and it costs me under $2 at my local grocery store. And yes, there are brands that don't need to be refrigerated until opened.

I think I am going to try flying with it, we'll double bag it with ziplock bags and hope for the best! Thanks everyone.

I pack squishable stuff in a plastic box in my suitcase all the time. I would also put it in a ziploc first just in case it leaks.

Yes! I believe that's it! OP, I was in Picabu's recently and remember being pleasantly surprised to see something that I often have problems finding at WDW. I'm wondering if it was Almond Breeze.

Phone the Swan/Dolphin number - and let them connect you to Picabu's.

I just phoned Picabu's directly for you and they said "no" but I don't know - she didn't know what Almond milk was at first so unsure with answer of no.

I have flown with it and had no issues.

An alternative. Just in case the packing fails at all. Take the bus to DD and walk out to Crossroad's and buy it there. I have bought it there in the past. I live downtown so I feel the walk is nothing out to that location but everyone is different.

Have a wonderful vacation!
