Crud, I'm in a pickle...

In-laws are joining us. We arrive be car around noon... In-laws arriving by plane. I told them an early flight was best, turns out they arrive at 3:30. Do you think it's possible they can get to the hotel/ checked in and to MGM for dinner by 5:30. They are using Magical Express.

Even bigger problem though... my dd is sleeping in their room. So her ticket and meals are linked to their room. :( So we have to get her a single day pass if we want to go to the park before them?

So, I started thinking of possible solutions.

  1. Everyone arrive a day earlier... ok, not really helpful other than I get to be at Disney longer... is it even possible? (We're at Pop Century)
  2. Get in-laws to fly in earlier.
  3. Get in-laws to arrive a day earlier... what will that do to credits seeing as dd would have a full day of extra credits? Wait, she could exchange the TS for a CS right with the new program? Hmmmm... Would they have to change rooms?

Anyone have ANY suggestions for me? Quite stressed about this.

Thanks!

Hmmm, I'm REALLY liking the idea of add a day actually. We could stick with the original ADRs and schedule, just have an extra day to work things out. Would I have to add a day to my park tickets as well?

So, it was easy to just add a day?

I also added a day but it took 3 calls before I got it. The first 2 times they told me that there were rooms available but not with the free dining. When I went to pay off my balance about 10 days ago, I thought I might as well check one more time. Sure enough the CM was able to get it for me, so now we are staying 10 nights and we get an extra night's worth of meals. We will be getting in very late, so we won't need them for that night and can use them later. A couple of nights we'll be using 2 vouchers, so this will work out great for us. :cool1:

You also don't have to add on another day of tickets either if you don't need them.
:)

Update! MIL LOVES the idea. We'll be calling in the morning to see if it's workable... fingers crossed.

Thank you SO much! :cool1:

Are you over the guest limit for your room? Why not add her to your room ressies instead? Makes no difference whose room she sleeps in. Simple solution!

Can't add her to ours... we're at Pop and we have three kids total, so no way to add her to our ressie. That was the beauty of the in-laws joining us, we could still stay at Pop with our three kids for a great price.

I'm about to call... fingers crossed! :D

I am so interested in this-DH just told me to add Friday as he wants to leave on Thursday (we are driving down and now with the change will be in a day early)

I was on hold for 40 minutes!!!

And....

NO PROBLEM AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, for $79 we get in, get rested, and get to eat for 'free' yet another day.

VERY excited. My In-laws called and they will actulaly be flying in on 9/9 now. We'll meet them at the resort on 9/10.

Woo hooo!

info (at least the info that i got) for those who are considering adding a day (days) to their free dining package. yes, if there is availability at your resort you can add day(s) onto your stay, but note that from the info i was given, the package maxes out at 10 days.

We wanted to add an 1th day to our 10 day package and even though there was still room at the resort for the extra day, we could not get the day added to our exisiting ressie/package. free dining has a max day limit of 10 days.

again - based on the info i was given by the CM i tried to do this with. she sounded pretty knowledgeable, but who knows.

PS - all worked out well in the end. we got a great AP rate on one night at POR anyway. and since the free dining is until midnight on the day you check out, we still get free dining that last full day we will be onsite.

We added an extra day to the beginning of our trip AND an extra day to the end of our trip just 2.5 weeks before our arrival day and have the added free DDP also- I made sure that I asked twice! :goodvibes We did not have to purchase any extra tickets either. No problem! :artist:

Funny that you asked. I was going back and forth about adding a day for a while. I figured it would be such a hastle since i was past final payment, and the free dining offer had expired. Well, you inspired me to give it a try. I just got off the phone and we added the extra day with the free dining with no problem! Thanks!

Glad I pushed you over the edge... :D

My MIL ended up adding TWO days to her ressie. That really cracked me up becuase she worried originally about being Disney'd out with 5 nights... now she's up to 7!!!

:rotfl:

But they are going to love it I bet!

Hi every1 i just joined this board and its great. I never knew there were this many people out there that are just as crazy as I am.

But i've been reading about this free dining plan and i can't seem to find the original post describing what this is besides the fact that its free food. Can some1 please explain to me how this works beacause it sounds too good to be true. Thanks

It was a package promotion offered a couple months ago. Basically, for paying the rack rate on the room, and buying tickets, you receive DIsney's Dining Plan for "free". I say "free" becuase you're paying a higher rate for the room and must buy tickets so there is an implied cost. Regardless, with the dining plan you recieve one table service credit, one counter service credit, and one snack per day per person. Te promotion is no longer offered, but the dates for which it was originally offered are taking place right now. SO you're likely to see a lot of talk of it for the next couple weeks. If you wanted to buy the plan, I think it's like $35 bucks per person, per day.

If you're in the planning stage of your trip, there is a new promotion. CHeck out www.mousesavers.com for details.

I just added another day Wednesday to our free dining trip for 9/30 to 10/09...DH is going to run The Race for the Taste on 10/08 and wanted to dine for free that evening! I LOVE MY DH...he has good "cheap", oops, I meant "free" taste! :cheer2:
