Anyone know Anything about Microwave problems?! HELP!

Today our microwave went zap! It is only 2 1/2 years old!!!!! It is a GE...
When we turn it on, it runs like normal, but doesn't heat up at all!...
It does seem to make a tad bit of a different noise...a slight buzz from the back maybe? But, it looks and sounds pretty much normal when it is running.

Can anyone point me in any dirrection as to what might be wrong??? We called a repair place and it is $30 JUST to look at the thing and diagnose it...then add on the repairs.

I can NOT believe this happened...the micro is sooo young. My parents had their GE microwave for over 20 years!!!!

I do know I would replace it. Sounds defective, I would not run it again. Perhaps you can call GE?

my mom had the same microwave for over 20 years. i'm lucky if one lasts 4 (although we've had very good luck with our built in-it's 7 years old) but she did'nt use it near as much as we do (she thought it was only for heating water, defrosting and cooking microwave dinners in ).

they just don't make them to last anymore, and it generaly costs more to fix one than it's worth (once repaired they are so much more prone to break down).

if it is a higher end model call ge and ask them if they did any kind of recall or repair advisory on it-you never know and it might result in a free repair.

They don't make microwaves like they use too. My parents had the same one for 15 years. Now in the past 5 years they have been through two microwaves! I would just buy a new one rather then pay $50+ to get it fixed.

It's the same with most electronics these days, it's cheaper to get a new one then to get it fixed. What a waste.
