I'm reading my first mickey monitor (took it long enough! LOL) and I saw something mentioned in the "plan ahead" section towards the end. It talked about the halloween party dates and MVMCP but also mentioned tickets are now available for Night of Joy September 5 & 6. We'll be there those dates!

So what is Night of Joy? I don't see it mentioned anywhere explaining this in the monitor and I can't find any information about it on the website. Also can't get search here to work to see if anyone else has already asked about this.

Anyone know?

Nevermind- I finally found it. Apparently search doesn't work well at ALL on disneyworld.com. LOL Searching showed nothing- just browsing in special events did.

Night of Joy is a lot of fun if you're into Contemporary Christian Music. I attended it every year when I was a teenager - back when they used to schedule it for several weekends during September.

We went back last year for the first time in over 10 years - and it was still fun. But, I must admit - it sure was nice to jump in the car and drive back to our villa at Wilderness Lodge - instead of hopping on a crowded bus with a bunch of sweaty teenagers and driving an hour to get back home! :) Oh... Those were the days!!...

But beware - it's pretty crowded - and most of those crowds are kids/teenagers!

Universal now hosts a similar event the same weekend. If the artist you're hoping to see isn't scheduled at WDW - they may be playing over there...

Hi,
Yes, I appreciate your post!
Does it mean the park is open later for the concert or is there a certain area they are in if you pay for it? I'm asking because I'm trying to figure out how they work that. I see you can buy tickets for this (for one or both days) online already but it says something about 7:30pm. I'm not sure what time the park will be closing normally at that time- but I imagine it won't be staying open very late since it's a non-peak time. However, does it mean if you DON'T pay for those tickets you have to leave the park earlier than close or something?

Let me know please!

I'm pretty sure that last year, the park closed at 6 (but the people with group tickets got in at 4) and they opened up the park for the rest of the guests at 7:30.......

Was it closing NORMALLY at 6pm? Or did it close early for this and therefore if you don't buy the tickets your LOSING time at the parks? Just curious... might help me decide whether or not to get tickets for this event. I think we'd enjoy it no doubt, but it would be more motivation to spend the money for my entire family if we would be losing time in the parks if we DIDN'T buy them. Make sense? LOL
Oh and you said people with the group tickets got in at 4. Does that mean that if you aren't in the parks that day if you have the tickets and go to this event in the evening that you don't have to ALSO use a day on your park hoppers?

We went to noj 7 yrs ago, it was wonderful music but not the best oppurtunity to enjoy the atrractions..it was very crowded...be prepared for large groups pf teens and adolescents...while on the haunted mansion attraction the ride stopped atleast5-7 times..each time the safety msg was sounded to please to stay in your seats so the ride would continue...there was a quite a bit of well ..boisterous behavior..to be polite.....i probably would not go again even if it coincided w/my vacation again...cruzmouse
