Anyone know a cheap flight from Austin, TX to Orlando?

Will be on a business trip to Texas and REALLY wanted to go to Disney. But the cheapest flight I can get one-way is $170+ taxes from Southwest. :earseek:

I don't care about connections or what airline or anything. I just need a cheaper flight! :goodvibes Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

$170 really isn't too bad. We don't get the $30-50 fares that you see from some other cities. Best I've seen anytime recently was $150 roundtrip, and that was an improvement, since it was going to be $220. This is all on SW. Continental gets as low as about $200.

ironz, I think the OP was saying $170 each way. That's $340 rt! Yikes!! Good luck finding anything cheap from the SA/Austin area. I'd be pleased if I could find anything less than $300rt for our July trip.

Are you familiar with the SWA Ding fares? Sometimes they look good. I found a ding fare the other day for $145rt in January :earseek: from San Antonio to Orlando. Maybe try that.

JimmieJ...you are so right! I totally mis-read that.

We just got $69 each way on the SW internet special. The Ding was $59...but with 7 people and trying to do the quick switch from previously booked fares to a Ding just seemed to be a little of a hassle. Would have been fine if just me, but didn't want to risk dropping a person. At any rate, we got our round trip down to $150 each from $220.

Happy Christmas!! NB is a great town!! (my bro lives there)

And I want to add to the OP...check for specials on SW on Tuesdays. that's usually when they come out (except for dings, which can be at any time!). I see the $69 fares have gone away. darn. Keep checking, though!!

I only need a one-way to Orlando, as I would fly home after that. I thought at least it would be like $120 or $130, but never $170 for a one-way ticket! :earseek:

I have to travel either the last week of April or the first week of May (around the meetings). How far in advance do Ding fares usually come out? I thought I should book early, but since that's too much to pay, maybe I should just wait and see if it goes down later??? :confused3

Thanks for the help! :goodvibes

luvdisney999...I would wait at least a month or so and look for trends. Like I said, check on Tuesdays especially.

And PM me when your visit gets closer in case you need a DIS friend in Austin!! :)

Definitely keep checking. I was very diligent, checked 3 times a day and managed to score a $79 one way with Continental. A few days later, that went back up...waaaaaaaaay up :) About 3 weeks later, I finally got an $89 flight coming back on SW. Before, and a few days later, it was back up to $149. I know that since, SW has had sales where I found it at that price again, and previous poster was right, recently it was lowered for a few days to $69!! You just have to keep trying, and check these boards regularly for sales ;)

$145!!!! Even though I'd have to pay to fly to San Antonio, it's better than way down here in the Rio Grande Valley. Less than $350 rt is cheap, usually. DING, here I come to register!

Get DING from SWA. I booked a DING fare from S. Antonio - MCO on Monday for 1/15 - 1/21 at $120 per R/T!!! Surprising my family w/ a WDW trip (kids have never been there) :cool1:
