Anyone just put all their pop/water in there checked luggage?

People are not allowed through security with more than 4 oz of liquid per container and those little containers usually have to be in a quart-sized ziplock bag that has to be taken out of the carry-on and put in a bin that goes through the x-ray machine. Once you are through the security checkpoint you can then purchase bottled water or bring empty water bottles to fill up once you get past security, but you can't take full water bottles in carry-on luggage.

This is incorrect. The maximum liquid size is 3.4 ounces, not 4. They don't usually have to be in a quart sized bag, they always have to be in a bag to go through security.

We've done this twice with no problem. Used Ziploc bags and didn't have leaks. We made sure to tell the person checking our luggage that there was water and soda in the suit case. They searched the bag and put a tag on the handle. Was not a problem at all. Saves a ton of snack credits.

We bought too much soda, beer and water when we went on a trip to Universal last year with extended family. I packed the extra drinks to bring back home. Never again! I ended up having to pay a fee for one of our bags being over 50lbs. It was over by a couple pounds. I asked if they could throw out the drinks and I was told no since they already put the bag on the belt. Then, when we returned home, a handle was broken on the suitcase (it wasn't a very expensive suitcase and the drinks were too heavy for the suitcase). Also, one of the sodas exploded so I had to throw out the suitcase (broken handle & sticky), rinse all the drinks and pay the $50 fee. It definitely was not worth it!!! Lesson learned!

Just a quick note. Disney does have scales at the ME luggage area so that you can weigh it. Should be no issue with having over weight luggage penalties. Simply check the weight before you even get to the airport.

We packed at home, weighed it on our professional dr scales(bought years ago lol) and we were no where close to the 50# mark. We distributed the bottles among the 2 suitcases in order to keep either from being overweight. We had our clothes and plenty of snacks in the luggage also.

On the return flight we had clothes, leftover snacks and water, PLUS souvies and we were still under the 50# mark. Had the luggage CM's weigh it before we checked it into them.

Last vaca we were just barely over weight. 2 gulped bottles of water later and we were fine. Good thing is besides my Minion plush we dont buy souvenirs so its always lighter on the way home compared to the way there.

No one with any sense would pack electronics or other valuables in checked baggage.

People pack liquids in checked bags every day; there are been dozens of threads on this board on this topic. It's perfectly safe and allowed by the airlines. I even own a wine suitcase for trips to Napa!

Coming home from New York last year about half of our group's checked bags didn't show up when we landed. One lady was freaking out because her daughters MEDICATION was in her checked bag. I was shocked that someone would pack something as important as cancer medication in her checked luggage.

Some people don't have any sense when they pack their suitcase.

That being said, I wouldn't pack any beverages in my checked luggage. I am the queen of purchasing one (or even 2) giant bottles of water at the airport gift shops as soon as I get through TSA. We use that until it is gone, and then get more.

Have you ever seen that show Airline?? There's lots of people who people put important meds in their suitcase...not even keeping a day's supply with them. :confused3

We Ziploc coke to bring, because we are Canadian and we try to drink US Coke only as a last resort.:crazy2:

In all my trips to WDW I divide bottled water and pop into our 3 duffle bags. I put everything in Ziplocks and we have never had a problem. We always fly Southwest and never have any issues with weight. We also bring our 3 Polar water bottles that keep things very cold for most of the days at the park and just add ice as we go. There is no way we will be paying for the new mugs. Also as part OD the QS Dining plan I can get my cold Diet Cokes so not a problem. I also bring crystal light to add to the water bottles. Also to cut costs we bring our own breakfast and snacks in a separate duffle bag and then use the empty duffle for our finds. This is one off ways we can afford Disney every yr.
