Hi all,
just wondering if anyones just come back from a trip at WDW.
Ive booked for 27/12/2006 for 10 nights and am trying to get as much info as possible.Usually go in october so i know it will be more crowded but wondering if anyone has any tips.
Many thanks in advance.

Hi there

We flew back on News Years Eve, so if you want any info regarding WDW, Pop Century, MyTravel etc. just check out my trip reports in the UK Trip Report section.

We're flying out on the 28th December, so we're looking forward to our first New Year there too.

We were there from 25th Dec to 4th Jan - I am doing trip reports at moment but if you have any particular queries I can help with just PM me & I'll try my best to answer them for you :)

We were there from 15th Dec - 4th Jan, the parks were much quieter after 2nd Jan. From previous experience we totally ignored disney from 23rd Dec - 1st Jan

Any questions just ask

Paul

Hi all-thanks for the replys-mandy have read your trip reports which have been a big help.
Lisa-ive pm'd you!
Paul-is the drop off in crowds really noticeable after the 2nd jan?
Also as we'd be arriving on the 27th would you reccomend seaworld or universal for the first few days.
would be interested if anyone has any non park ideas for new years eve.

We were at a Universal Hotel from 23/12 to 27/12 using the FOTL to bypass the queues, and we were really surprised how quiet it was until 26/12.

On the 26/12 the queue for Shrek was about 60 mins in the morning and a 5 min queue when we went back to the park at 7pm. On the 27th we only stayed until lunch time, and the queue for Shrek was 90 mins, and even 50 mins for Woody Woodpecker ride.

I also heard that Seaworld was busy

We noticed the disney parks were significantly quieter on 2nd Jan, and could see a further drop off on 3rd Jan.

During our non park days we did miniture golf, cinema and stayed by the villa pool, which the kids loved (DS 7 and DD 6)

Was it warm enough to swim?? we are used to August tempratures so realise it might be a shock :D

I am thinking of going to Florida for Xmas and new year, but not until I start my study until then I cant get xmas and new year off.

Where do go to celebrate new year? Do the parks hold an ticket event only policy like MNSSHP?

We had pool heating at the villa, so yes it was nice and warm. Without it I would expect it to be a bit cold.

The parks are not on special ticketing on News Years Eve, but they are very very busy. I think Pleasure Island was on separate ticketing, but not 100% sure

We spent New Year 2004/2005 in Epcot. It was very enjoyable with a great atmosphere but extremely busy (as you would expect). The number of people did not bother me but I found waits of an hour for a drink or almost as long as that to use the toilet a little trying :)

If I went again I am not sure whether I would go into a park again or not - but I am glad I tried it once :)

We will be having our first Christmas trip this year as well so I too have already started looking into some plans ;)

Although I would love to see in the New Year at Epcot from what I've been reading I don't think the crowd level would suit me or the kids so at present I'm leaning more towards booking a meal at one of the nice resort restaurants, either Boardwalk or GF and then catching the fireworks from there.

I've also read that there is a great atmosphere at DTD and that you can see plenty of firworks from there.

We swam in the Dolphin hotel pool a couple of days, but you only get a small window during the day when the sun at it's warmest. The pools are heated, so once you are in, as long as you keep your shoulders below the surface it's quite nice. But when you get out of the pool it's can be a bit chilly!

We were in WDW from the 15th until the 29th December and up until about the 23/24th crowds were quite low. Christmas week all the parks were very busy. But, it you get to the parks early, focus on the rides you really want to do each day and use the Fastpass system you can avoid having to wait in longs lines. Also, come back in the evenings and do rides during the parades and fireworks etc.
We found skipping breakfast and having an early brunch was good too - beats the lunchtime rush at the counter service restaurants.
Be prepared for long lines at the womens toilets in the parks too :)

Annmarie - I think if I went again I would do the nice resort meal followe by watching Illuminations from the Boradwalk or Wishes from the Poly :)

The fireworks at DTD we did catch at midnight, and while they are not in the same league as MK/Epcot they are longer than usual and a nice end to the day we found (watching from our bedroom window at the time :) )
