Just wondering if anyone has recently come back from the Marriott Grand Vista. Looking for suggestions for a room request (building/location)

Thanks

Hi Tim
I just got back yesterday from a 3 night stay at the Grand Vista. We were in building 89. It over looked a nice pond area of the golf course, but really was not close to the pools or main building. I wish I would have saved my resort map so I could help you with a building #. I would have to see a layout to help you with an actual #, and would be glad to :) I will see if I can find something and get back here.

Thanks Diane. Hope you had fun!

Tim .... we are checking in on the 23rd and will be there until the 30th. I am anxious to see this place!

I am considering the MGV for the first 4 days of our trip in December - I have a rate for a 1 bed villa at $113 per night.

How did you rate the resort !

How did you find the rooms !

thanks

We stayed there last year and loved it. The Two bedroom suites were huge. Full kitchen, dining area, and living room. There was a big balcony as well as a screened in porch. I here there has been a lot of construction since we were there last, and a whole new pool area. Plus new things for the little ones. I am trying to get a handle on which pool area to be near (not that those type of requests are always possible).
Below is a picture from the room last year. You really can't see much, but in the backround is one of the master bedrooms. The Nugget is sitting at the kitchen counter. The other master also had a jaccuzi.

Hope you all have a great trip!!!

Hi Tim - I just got back last night from a 5 night stay at the Grande Vista. We were in building 83 in rooms 3421 and 3422. I think the entire building was refurbished units. These were refurbished rooms which were terrific. It was a little bit of a walk from the pool areas but nothing over 5 minutes. When we checked in they told us that building 83 was the closest refurbished building to the pools. So I would recommend asking for that one. (Not sure if they always tell the truth though.)

Our rooms overlooked a small lake and part of the golf course.

We called ahead of time to make sure that we were given a newly refurbished room. Thank goodness we did because I met a woman at the pool who was there with her family through a timeshare special ($199 for 4 nights in a studio deal) and they were given an apparently disgusting unit in another building. She said it was old and filthy and she wouldn't even walk around barefoot on the carpets they were so stained. I thought that was crazy of Marriott because they were trying to get her to buy a timeshare. Not a very good sales pitch in my opinion.

We spent a lot of time at the new pool area which is called the West Village. It's just a 3 minute walk over a bridge to get there. (All the units there we were told are reserved for owners.) The pool area was very pretty and the Copa Loca Bar was great. It is right at the pool and had great service and very tasty reasonably priced food. We actually ate there a couple times and said it was great every time. Derek at the bar was extremely nice and helpful.

If you have any other questions, I'd be happy to help answer them if I can.

Happy planning!

Thanks for the info Heather. Have you started planning your next trip?
I just got off the phone with them. Bldg's 93, 94, and 95 have also been refurbed. They are near the pools by the lighthouse bar. I have a request in there. It is where we stayed last year.
I will also be checking out the Copa Loca bar!

I thought it was a gorgeous property. We had the two bedroom. The only negative was the sofa beds. There were 5 girls so we needed to use at least one of them. I have slept on them in other hotels, and this one was pretty thin with springs right at the surface. We called about the matter and they sent an egg crate to put on top of it. That helped. I had read some negative reviews on the GV and was a little worried. It turned out to be a great time, great place :) Pools were fun. If you will be hanging out at the pool at all, it may be a good idea to stay in one of the buildings close to one of them. I wish I could find a lay out of the property so I could make some suggestions for you all. Any other questions?

Wow! I just got back on Sunday. I may have seen you there LOL. Were you at the new pool area on Saturday?

There is an outline map of the resort in the virtual tours section on Expedia

Can you confirm which area would be the best to request - for location/refurbished units etc

Hi We were there last week in bldng 91 or 81, Marbella. Anyway it was near the lighthouse pool room 1205. Very convenient to get the kids to the pool and we had a pool view from our balcony. It was a little noisy at night but not past 1030. I could also hear the pool fountains at night but it was actually relaxing to me. We spent time at the new pool and grill too. My kids really liked that pool and the food was good there too. Enjoy!!

2Disneybuggs ... is there anything that you wish that you had brought with you that wasn't provided in the condo?

Maciec I brought laundry detergent and Lysol cleaner to clean the tub and kitchen sink. They provided everything else soap, sponges, utensils, pots, coffee maker, filters. There was a blender too. HTH
