Just wondering how many from Iowa we have on the boards? If so, which park do you frequent most (CA or FL)?

Originally I am from Kansas City, but recently relocated to Iowa after a short stay in Texas (thus my screen name and I wish I could change it!). My family has only visited WDW and I have been to Disneyland when I was 5....long time ago.

Planning on going back to WDW next September.

we are from Iowa... we do Disneyworld more than Disneyland (have done wdw 6 times and Disneyland 2) we have plans to do World again in September

Hi Rob! :wave2:

We are just down I-380 from you, as you can see from my Location description.

We own DVC, so we go to WDW about once a year or once every other year.

My post isn't too useful. We're planning our first trip to WDW. Never been to DL.

Welcome to our beautiful state!

We are from Iowa... Went to Disney World in May for the 1st time!!! LOVED it and hope to go back in 2010 or 2011.... :) GREAT STATE!!!!

We're from Des Moines and the majority of our time is spent at WDW vs. DL. When we were growing up, we spent several weeks with our aunt and uncle who lived in CA so I grew up with DL.

We own DVC and usually go several times a year to WDW. It is convenient for us to drive to KC and fly non-stop via SW. My other family members who live in Iowa City and Cedar Rapids, generally drive to Midway and then can fly non-stop.:thumbsup2

Hi fellow Iowans! I'm from the Des Moines area.

I've never been to DL, our March trip will be my 8th trip to WDW; my first trip was in '81. We usually go over Spring Break.

WDW is very accessible. Allegient flies direct out of Des Moines, AirTran flies driect from Moline. In March, we are driving to Kansas City for a direct flight from there because I got a deal on AirTran when those flights were first available.

I don't post here all that often but hope to see some of my fellow Iowans around the Dis!

Not that this has anything to do with WDW...just remembering when I was younger we went to Spain. An older gal in our tour group was from a non-midwestern state. She asked where we were from...when we told her Iowa, she responded, "Oh. I didn't know Iowans travelled." :lmao: Still cracks me up. Do all of you Iowans realize going to WDW could be considered travelling? :rotfl:

Anywho...does Allegiant fly into MCO? Someone told me they don't fly there - I can't remember what I looked up - it's been a little while.

Allegient flies into Sanford, not MCO. It is a bit further but actually a nice little airport just north of Orlando. There is no Magical Express service. Rental cars are comperable in price to MCO, but if you are using a towncar service the price for that is quite a bit more. It took us exactly one hour from Contemporary Resort to Sanford. Half of the trip is up I4 but the other half is lower speed roads, so the trip is perhaps 45 miles but plan about an hour, more during rushhour since you can easily get caught in traffic on I4.

Gosh, I never knew that we could be "Iowans who travelled to WDW." What a great idea for our state logo when the legislature decides to convene in January.:rotfl:

While I don't technically live in Iowa, I do cross the Mississippi to work every day. I get to your neck of the woods (or in this case cornfields) occasionally as we have a branch office in Cedar Rapids.

I make it to WDW at least once a year (more often if I can manage to sneak away for long weekends). Right now, I'm booked for a return trip in September as well. Maybe we'll run into each other

Yeah, it kind of beats, "Iowa you make me smile" - I never liked that one. I was always partial to "Iowa a place to grow" - but "Iowans who like to bail on the snow to go to WDW" doesn't sound to bad either! :rotfl:

Well anything beats "Iowa, place to watch the corn grow":rotfl2: or isn't that where you grow potatoes?popcorn::

Popping in from SW Iowa! Well, not too SW, we are closer to Des Moines than to the corner of the state. We have gone to WDW 3 times, never to DL. They don't have Magical Express at DL, do they? One reason we go to WDW is DH drives truck all day, and WDW is one vacation he doesn't have to do any driving!

We flew out of Des Moines our first two times. Last month we made the 3 hour drive to KC to fly nonstop with Southwest. I really kind of liked that plan. When you consider there are no layovers, the travel time is about the same, it's just that you're driving part of the time- and DH did most of that (sorry honey!).

I totally agree. I'll take the drive anytime from DSM to KC or Om just to avoid the hassle of layovers in Chicago or Atlanta. I'm a huge fan of SWA-once they publish the flight, never have had flight changes. We too love using the ME once we arrive at WDW and then everyone can look to their hearts content without stressing over the traffic. We're counting the days until January 22.
