Anyone in here decorate cakes?

WOW!!! MosMom WOW!!!!

On another note, DD10 (the one who made the Cell Cake) came home today saying, "Mom, I've got a SS project due. Can we make the Transcontinental Railroad out of cake?" What am I going to do with that child. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Holy cow Bridget!! I cannot wait to see the finished project!!!
mchames, your daughter is learning early, you can make anything out of cake, lol.

On another note, I finally bought some Satin Ice yesterday....but...I have no cake orders...I'd really love to do something like a corpse bride cake though.

I did'n use fondant, but here's my corpse bride cake.

Mos, you seriously need to enter that. AMAZING. Your cakes always inspire me! :wizard:

Pollymn, your colors are really good!

That is a great cake Polly! I love the black leaves around her, it is the perfect touch.

I got the library done today. I couldn't get a good picture of it so I'm going to try again when there is daylight. A flash was way too bright but there wasn't enough light and without a flash, my camera always comes out blurry. I'll have to figure out why someday.

Here it is! Still happy with it...no disasters yet. It is a big cake though and disasters lurk around every corner. :p

MosMom in the stretching room, did you hand paint the portraits or were they some kind of transfer? They are awesome either way.

They were printed on edible rice paper. The red stripes from the wall bled through in some areas after it sat overnight so that is kind of a bummer. If I have time when it is done, I will reprint and try to fit then in the frames. Next time I'll have to remember that and not paint areas where the paper will be. The edible paper is so thin that anything behind it really soaks through. Whoops! I'm going to use edible paper for some wallpapers later on too (the classic face wallpaper being one of them). I'll also print some of the ghost portraits and the tomb sweet tomb sign.

Anyone use Satin Ice? I am thinking or ordering some in white and chocolate.

I love Satin Ice. If you're going to make an order, I would order black too. I absolutely hate making black fondant and it seems like my needs for black fondant seem to pop up on me so it is nice to have around.

So you like the taste and texture...I am doing a search and some people say it smells like play-dough???

I think it smells better than Wilton fondant! I think nothing is going to smell like homemade marshmallow fondant. You can add flavor oils to the fondant to improve flavor and smell.

Music Room

I made a scale faux pas here. The chair is a "zoom in" but the music stand and marble vase are on the "floor". Oh well. :p

Just need the endless hallway and the graveyard to finish up the bottom tier. I'm putting the graveyard on the bottom tier as it would look silly on to the top tier even though it is the last scene of the ride.

I'm going to do some cotton candy cobwebs but I'll do those last. I will probably do that when I do the sugar crystal ball for Madame Leota...I'm still trying to figure out exactly how I'm going to do the crystal ball.

Thanks. I've lost count of how many times I've watched the HD Haunted Mansion video on YouTube squinting to see details. :p I'll be cuckoo by the time it is over.
