Hello! I just clicked on a link that was in another thread about the Florida resident Dining Card (it is called something like that) that gives you 20% off selected restaurants and lounges on Disney property. I would like to know if any of ya'll have this card and if you have used it. One thing I am very interested to know is if it counts towards liquor, too!

Also, at first I was against ordering it because I thought I had to get one for myself and one for my DH. But it is good for up to 6 people at the table, so we just need one card, right?

Any info would be appreciated!

My parents have the card. They use it so much that they only eat at restaurants that are participating restaurants.

I can't comment on the liquor as no one in my family drinks.

and yes you only need one card.

2nd edit* because I keep on remembering things

If you love eating at "sit-down" restaurants this card pays for itself after just a few trips.

The card is called "Disney's Dining Experience" It worked in all the hotel restaurants and the larger theme park restaurants. One trip we were 4 couples and I was allowed to use it for party of eight. Worked for the booze also. No problem in the hotel restaurants -- in the bar at Wilderness Lodge they had to check with the Area Mgr and he "OKed" it.

Hope this helps,

Thanks for your replies, Phosphate and Roland! Hmmm, that is weird that the manager had to "ok" it at the Territory Lounge at the WL. I hope I don't get any trouble anytime I try to use it as my DH gets embarrassed easily when it comes to using coupons on getting discounts.

I will keep checking this thread for more info and stories about the Disney Dining Experience card! I see it is actually good at Victoria and Alberts so just MAYBE I can justify eating there now!

Hi,

We have it, and yes, it counts for the liquor also..as long as you are dining/drinking in one of the places off the list.

The list is extensive...good in food courts on up to V&A's.

I wish we would have known about this card a long time ago.

I don't know about paying for itsself after a few meals, but it does help. It cost me $70 when I joined last Spring.
I have had a few places discount the drinks. (Ice teas and sodas)
It seems I always have to mention to discount drinks or it does not get done.
Plus we get occasional DDE flyers for special, exclusive meals. Those are pricey too at $60 - $100 per person. They are geared more toward food and wine connoisseurs.

I ask whereever we eat, and very rare is it accepted in anything but sit down. I would have to look at my list. Either the CMs are incorrect, or it is basically only for sit downs. It is not even applicable in Earle of Sandwich.

Twice I have had to show my FL driver's license when using it.

Topper-Thanks for the link...that is the one I saw before but I am sure you posted it for the others that were unsure of which restaurants the card is valid at. Thank you!

Luv-I think it will pay for itself very quickly with us! We spend well over $100 a night every night we are at Disney! And I am very interested in the special, exclusive meals you mentioned. I am a bit of a "foodie" (love to cook, subscribe to a zillion cooking magazines, watch foodtv all day) so I think I would get use out of that, too!

webray-yeah, I really could have used this card during our last stay. We spent WAAAAAY too much on food...but of course enjoyed every minute of it! :)

It's a great card! We had it for 2 years now. Depending on where you eat and how many people are with you, the card can pay for itself very quickly. We saved $50 one night alone at the Flying Fish with a party of four. You only need to buy one card and it is good for up to six people. Although we have been given the discount for a party of ten before. I've never had an issue at any restaurant except for the San Angel Inn and that was a few years ago when they were just added to the list of participating restaurants and they didn't know how to ring up the discount.

On many occasions I have been told by a server that they have to find a manager to apply the discount. That may be standard procedure. But we have never had any issues with applying the discount to alcohol. Happy eating and drinking!

I ordered one in June asked if my hubby could use it I got 2 cards one for him one for myself. Has our names on them. It'll pay for itself quickly.

Just wanted to say that I do believe the discount has to be taken off by the supervisor. My parents have also never been given a hassle about using a card. I'd say 99% of the servers know about it. They have gotten a few servers who do a deer in the headlights look when they see it, but never been told we don't take that.

Just wanted to add that my parents(same last name) card was in my mom's name(up until a year so ago when we moved away and couldn't renew, they had the card since it debuted) my dad always payed for the meals, and he had never been given a problem with my mom's name on the card.

We have it, and depending on the types of meals you are getting, and alcohol, it absolutely can pay for itself in a matter of a few meals. We used it at Jiko, CG and Citrico's, and it was paid for. Everything else was just money saved!

does the 2nd card need to be asked for when asking for the 1st? MIL already has her card - next time she'll need to ask for one for DH too

I don't know I just asked if my DH could use the card if it was in my name I got 2 in the mail.

One of the cool things about the discount is that it's exactly 20%. My husband and I used this to our advantage when budgetting for our trips. When we used the discount, we always just added the 20% back for the tip for the staff...

Admittedly, we have added more than that back on occasion for great service, but it was nice to know how much we would be paying by looking at menu prices and not having to estimate tip on top of that. :)

100 meal at California Grill
became 80
20 goes back to the waiter = 100 again. :) EASY!

We love ours!!!We first used it on our Thanskgiving trip and it paid for itself then. For one meal there were seven us (my DS was the only child ) and they did let us use it at the Crytal Palace.

It is also good at all the the value resort food courts, the food court at POFQ and the counter service restaurants at AK. Just ask for an extra card when you oder it-DH and I each have one.
It will work out great for this last trip-my mom and her DH are joining us and we are staying at POFQ.

Thank you everyone for your responses! I ordered mine today! She asked me my name, then asked if I wanted a secondary name put on the membership so of course I put DH's on there. Maybe we will get two cards...we'll see.

Flbbity-That is great! I am a big proponent of the 20% (or more) tip, since I am a former server myself!

I am so excited! Going to the WL Sept 10-12th and gonna drink at the Territory Lounge, eat at Jiko one night and maybe Narcoosee's the next! we LOVE Jiko's and have never tried Narcoosee's but heard great things!

OH and I LOVE the valet parking perk!!! No charge for valet parking if you dine at a resort restaurant...very convenient!! Show them your card when you arrive. ..but don't forget to tip!
