anyone here from Nevada? (regarding pronunciation)

Do Nevadians say "Nevada" like "Nev-add-a" or "Nev-ah-da"? I've heard it both ways, just curious how people from the state pronounce it, which presumably is the right way to say it.

Oops, I meant short 'A' (like 'cat'), or 'ah' (like 'pod')...

Well I'm glad I asked... I always hate pronouncing things wrong, and I always felt that Ne-vah-da sounded "right" to me, still do, but I guess that is because that is how I learned it. But I will switch now since I know the right way to say it!

Similar thing happened recently. For Lancaster, PA I've always pronounced it "Lan-caster" instead of "LANK-ister", which I always thought sounded weird. Then I realized one day when I was in the area that all the local radio commercials pronounced it "LANK-ister"...oops!
