We were swimming up at the lake cottage and my DS had cut his foot. We were out of the water for a little while and the bleeding stopped and we went back in for just a few minutes. We were heading back to the stairs and all of a sudden a fish was attacking DS's foot. This was a sheepshead fish. It does not have teeth (like a muskie) and in all the years I have been swimming there (since I was a baby), there was NEVER an occurance of this type of fish attacking us. DH has cut himself plenty while putting in the pier so I don't know why this fish did this. It doesn't have teeth, so I think it was sort of "nibbling" but very strange. It stayed at the top of the water, even near me, while I was waiting to get up the stairs. I kicked the water hard by it, and it didn't want to go away. These fish don't come near people. Any ideas? I did report this to the DNR, but had to leave a message on an answering machine and they haven't gotten back to us.
