Anyone heard of a Lifetime Pass?

We talked to a family on our Sept 03 trip that had lifetime passes. She said they got them thru someone who worked for WDW. She didn't buy them, they were given to her and her family. Wish I was her!!! ( I think the cast member was a relative of hers)

SO.. about this lifetime pass.......I did read on another site (many dis employees but still hear say) that this pass does exist and has been given out to people who have had accidents at the world. For instance, there was a monorail accident many years ago and there were people injured and so on. they were given life time passes. here is the post and the link to the site.

Ok - This is TOTAL speculation, rumor, whatever you want to call it. It might be off topic too, but it relates, indirectly to the subject at hand. So I will apologize in advance....

I heard that years ago, when the silver monorail burned to the ground, that everyone onboard who signed an NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement) was given a lifetime park passport. This didn't include travel or anything like that, but it did provide for free admission to the parks.

Again, please keep in mind that this IS NOT VERIFIED. However, I was at the park (though I was pretty young) when this happened, and it was controlled chaos around that place. Disney was working very hard to prevent photos and whatnot from leaking, so this doesn't seem all that far fetched.

Needless to say, the attempt to keep this out of the mainstream press failed, and a photo of the monorail turned up on the front page of the paper the next morning.

Anyway, if this is true, it was a pretty nice gesture by Disney in my opinion

I was talking to a lady at my Gym last week, our conversation started as a reult of her comment about my Disney T-shirt. We were talking about how much we love WDW and talking a bout the different places we stayed, fav rides and so on. She mentioned that she and her DH have a unlimted pass to WDW(she did not call it a lifetime pass) for four that was given to her Dh when he retired from ABC. She did indicate that it never expired so I am now thinking that it is probably one of the Lifetime passes being talked about. She also told me that when he was working for ABC, they also recieved discounts at resorts, but not any longer. Has anyone else heard of this?

I know we did hear about this years ago - so I am still thinking that there may have been another source also for these. I remember thinking that why should I spend the money on something like that? But we are talking MANY years ago.

I must have missed something along the years though - I never heard of a monorail burning.

I actually know someone who has a lifetime pass...it's actually his whole family. He was the last person actually HIRED by Walt Disney himself to help build (and work in) Walt Disney World. He was the longest running employee when he retired this May. They honored him and his family with lifetime passes/special parking/made him the Grand Marshall of a parade/gave him a huge type of press conference/and last but NOT least (and the COOLEST of all!)...they actually honored him with a WINDOW ON MAIN STREET! They do not do this at ALL anymore! If you look at one of the windows above the theater on Main Street, it says something about Nabbe Fence Painting. They gave him a miniature model of the window and a giant plaque to take home...they're beautiful :)

I went to middle school with a boy whose family was the first family in the Magic Kingdom when it opened. There was an article about them in the newspaper when the Magic Kingdom turned 10- I saw his picture but I never had the courage to ask him about it- it wouldn't have been "cool". Anyway- his family received lifetime passes which I thought was pretty neat at the time. Now, I am terribly envious of him! His mom said in the article that they didn't really get there that early and never thought they would be the first family. Now I wish my dad had taken our family that first day- maybe we would have those passes!

As far as discounts go, a friend of mine's dh works for ESPN (owned by ABC). They got a terrific discount two years ago when they went down and stayed at the AKL. I don't know if they still offer it, but it was good enough that his sister and her family considered flying him down just for the day so he could check them in! They ended up not doing it though.
