After the poor Cayman Islands were devastated by "Ivan", I was just wondering if anyone has heard how Cozumel has faired ?

Did they get any of the High winds & waters as well?

Our Western Cruise on the 9/25 Magic next week could be a real mystery cruise - with Jeanne - also coming up the eastern Caribbean - who know where we will end up :(

Cozumel was on the "good side" of the storm (not the north or west side), so I suspect it didn't get the same winds that the Caymans, Jamaica, and Cuba have gotten.

According to a report from one of the Cozumel dive operators:
The worst is over, and it turned out to be no worse than a very strong "norte." We were very, very, very fortunate to have missed this one!

Highest wind gusts reported were less than 65mph, very little rain relatively speaking, and the storm has pretty much moved out.

We still have strong north winds, and it is still very cloudy, but I suspect that everything will start returning to normal today and diving will probably resume tomorrow...hopefully.

So I think Coz is in the clear. I was there for hurricane Isabel, and it's a remarkably resilient place, though not a terribly interesting one durring an extended storm. Not being able to bring in the cruise ships is enough to shut most of the businesses down, regardless of weather!
