Anyone hear of no FP+ limits yesterday?

I know Screamscape has a bad rap, but they get a LOT of scoops, in my opinion. But "the site that shall not be named" is also crowing this as justification of their policy of deleting all negative FP+ comments for the last year:

2013 - FastPass+ / MyMagic+ / MagicBand - (2/12/14) According to online reports from earlier today, Walt Disney World was testing the FastPass+ system without the 3 FP+ per day limit. Once you used your first three, you had the option to reserve another. No word on how long this “test” will remain active.

Wonder if this is really the tier changing, or is Disney just desperate, or just glitching?

I really can't see that they would leave the limit in the past, unless the negative reviews have scared them. Ultimately, on above average crowd days, giving unlimited FP+ will be worthless, assuming enough people are smart enough to prebook, since there won't be anything left anyway.

Who knows, maybe on your next visit, you will use a FP+, sit on a bench feverishly refreshing, trying to pounce on a newly available FP+, and repeat.

One thing is still clear, I wouldn't vacation there right now. Until the rules are well established, it sure isn't worth the risk of thousands of vacation dollars.

I was able to work around the tier system yesterday. I had booked a fast pass for TSM a month ago, and was able to add Fantasmic! I didn't want to give up my pass for ToT for RnR.

Also, at EPCOT, I now have passes for Soarin & Test Track.

However, I had to do it on my phone. I think there was a glitch in the MDE update.

Why would the FP+ rules risk your thousands of vacation dollars? Do you need to have several FP per day or ride TSM, Soarin', or TT multiple times per day or your entire vacation is a waste of money?

There were lots of glitches yesterday apparently.

You could change your existing FP+ with no tier limitations, and you could more than 3 if you used up your 3. There might have even been others.

But is seems to be "fixed" for now.

And how are any of those problems with FP+ "risking thousands of dollars" spent on a WDW vacation. FP- and now FP+ are only one small part of a WDW vacation, frankly weather and attractions closed are a bigger impact to any vacation.

This would be a way to encourage morning FP+ booking and make FP+ haters feel like they have some power back.

There is a risk because it makes people switch their FP+ to less desirable morning slots, when standby lines are manageable, only to have it possibly not work or the new FP+ they want to be gone. If I knew this would work during my trip, I would still ride standby in the morning, make all my FP in the early afternoon (currently one is late afternoon), and be glad for the chance to FP something like Jungle Cruise or Speedway in the evening. Not that I prefer this over FP-. :)

Why are you quoting Amy regarding the risking your vacation thing? She didn't say that or even allude to it.

Yes, it was true. It was a "glitch" and has now been fixed/corrected. Whether people will be able to use FP+ that they changed yesterday has yet to be seen.

If you were spending a large portion of the vacation at WDW, and you got much less that you expected? Like all the people have posted, after returning from a trip, stating they are done with WDW?

I'm not going to get too excited about rumors of possible tests of something that may or may not reflect a final product.

But, in terms of my first choice for a final product, if they ever allow guests with advance reservations to also get some FPs same day (which I expect), I don't think that availability should be contingent on using your reserved FPs.

As you point out, this approach could create a demand for morning spots from guests who want to use up 3 FPs as soon as possible so they could get more. But, that strategy would run the risk of getting MORE FPs that would be less valuable in terms of the length of the lines skipped.

For example, if you choose FPs for the 3 mountains at 9-10,10-11, and 11-12 you could use those and then try to get a 4th FP as soon as you get through the last one. But, especially at a busy time, the selection of FPs might be limited, and you would have used up your 3 reserved ones at times when the standby lines would not have been that long.

I would prefer a system that would allow everyone with advanced reservations to get more for same day use, regardless of whether you have used the others. The availability of those extras could be controlled by things similar to the paper system, like no more than one every 2 hours.

It will be interesting to see how this develops.

Even if they do this, I don't think there is going to be much left to pick through after you use your 3 prebooked FP+s.

I changed last night to TSMM, RnR, and ToT. All 3 worked without issue today and I even changed times on them in the park this morning. Going forward who knows.

Well of course you would, because that would be a pretty darn system.

I thought only getting 3 was a great syste, and really not a downgrade at all. Now, folks are wanting FP+ to be BETTER than FP- was?

Yeah, I don't see that happening.

I'm curious! What is the "site that shall not be named" in clue form? I'm guessing you can't type out the name! :rotfl:

Yeah, two days ago they messed up and we got both Epcot and hs fast passes at the same day.

The system I am describing would still be better for some, but not as good for others, as the paper FP system, depending on the parameters put on it. For example, there could still be a ban on getting more than 1 FP for one attraction and an overall limit on how many same day FPs anyone could get. But, the biggest difference would be that the reservations made in advance would significantly reduce, if not completely eliminate, the availability of FPs for some popular attractions.

Under the paper FP system, everyone started the day at zero, and under the system I am describing everyone (at least everyone who can and does make their advanced reservations) would start with 3. The end result would be a more level distribution of FPs, something Disney is clearly trying to accomplish.

Yup.

And, it is against DISboards policy to try to circumvent the filters.

Has the glich been fixed now? It must have been nice to pull a few extra FP for the day and I can't help to wonder if others also had problems just getting the FP?
