My sister called WDW tonight to try to book a trip for the week before Easter and checking out the day after Easter. She and her family travel to WDW maybe once every two years or so, certainly not as often as I do. Anyway, the CM she spoke to said that there was a pink code next attached to her name in the computer and that this would signify that she is eligible for certain room discounts. She was able to get two rooms in the one of the wings of the Contemporary for $199 per room per night.
I called to see if there was a pink code next to my name and there was not. I was able to book the same room for the same price using my passholder discount. But, I'm a little annoyed that WDW repeatedly offers special discounts to people who don't go there that often. I realize that they are trying to entice these occasional visitors but It's not fair to all of us who spend so much time and money at WDW. Repeat visitors should be rewarded also with an occasional discount. Sorry, I needed to vent a little.

The Pink codes must be related to the e-mails, since lots of folks have said that they've been able to call and get access to their e-mail code after they deleted it.

As for discounts, I guess they just have to balance between giving them to repeat customers, and giving them to people that they hope will become repeat customers. I guess they figure that most of us Disney nuts are going to go regardless of the rates (most of the time when I get a code, I use it to upgrade my resort level). If I really wanted to go at a time when I couldn't get a discount, I'd just pay rack rate at a value and go anyways.

I don't know anything about a pink code but I will chime in about doing more for repeat guests. I think Disney should do some kind of point reward program like many chain hotels have for those that travel often. These programs are a great incentive to use the same hotel and couldn't cost that much to run. That is one reason that I like the Swan so much I get points toward upgrades for our next trip. :teeth:

It's all about demographics. Sadly, I've never received a postcard, email code, etc. So, I guess being a married, childless couple, living in a Mid-Atlantic state who visits often somehow doesn't fit Disney's profile for discount eligibility.

I agree it would be nice to have some sort of system to reward loyal guests. Other chains like to acknowledge repeat visitors. I stayed at a Renaissance resort in Maui for 4 years straight. On my 2nd visit, they left me a nice welcome back letter in my room. On the 3rd visit, I received the letter plus a voucher for drinks at the pool bar. On the 4th visit, we received a couple of breakfast vouchers plus a nice room upgrade. It certainly makes you feel appreciated. :)
