Hi I am shopping for health insurance for our family of five. We have 3 boys and go to the doctors for various things they seem to carry on to each other so I am looking for the copay option for them. I got a quote on the united health insurance online and wanted to know if anyone else had them and what they thought. are there any other health insurance suggestions? I am 39, dh39-good health, ds 11, 6, and 1.5 thanks:goodvibes

I have UHC PPO through work, and am pleased. The Medco drug option I am less happy with. UHC has been much easier to work with than BCBS IL was.

Just check and be sure that the doctors you use participate with UHC because around here, there are only a tiny handful of doctors who do.

This is my new insurance. I assume Oxford took over or vice versa?

Anyway, it's not going so well. I NEVER ever go to the dr, really just for physcial. Used insurance once in 5 months for an annual , and they have not stopped sending me bills. I keep calling, on hold 30 min, and asking them why they're billing me, aren't annuals covered in full?

Yes, they say, but their 'computers' do that. I said, your computers keep doing it and you 'll have some unknowing person or elderly paying you.

It keeps happening and when I call, they say, we'll try to take care of it, but we wcan't guarantee it won't happen again. CAN YOU BELIEVE this?

I had Aetna before this for many years. Never a problem like this.

hi guys,,,
Yeah i am currently having the this health insurance plan.It differs from others because they provide the following benefits in addition to the general.
Prescription drug coverage,24/7 nurse hotline,Worldwide emergency care and Routine vision.

We just switched to Unitedhealthcare Oxford and so far it seems everything is the same as our old insurance. The only issue I have is that my OB/GYN doesn't take it. I'm not happy about that but my main concern was that the kid's pediatrician takes it and my 2 dses pulminologist and allergist takes it.
All of our co-pays are the same, and the scrips I've had filled so far have been too, so as of now I don't have any major complaints except of course the cost each month that has gone up.

We looked into them, too, but the broker didn't realize our closest hospital is not participating. No thanks.

That sounds like a problem with the doctor's office, not the insurance company. Unless I'm missing something, it's usually the doctor's office that bills you for your visits, not the insurance company. The only reason I can think of for this to be the insurance company's fault is if they have not paid the doctor for your visit. In this case, you'd need to contact the insurance company & find out why they aren't paying. It could be that the doctor's office coded something incorrectly so the insurance co thinks they don't have to pay. I'd gather up all the bills you've gotten, and call both the doctor's office & the insurance co.

I have UHC PPO through work and haven't had any problems with them. In fact when I had some questions about bills we got from the hospital when my DD was born, UHC was very good about explaining everything to me so I understood why we owed what we did.

We have CVS Caremark for our prescription plan through UHC.
