Historically I don't think it has any real significance. I use a great web site called "This Date in Disney History" (Link) and May 5th doesn't look too significant in the big picture of things. Take a look at the site and click on any date to find out what happened in Disney history on that date.

Probably just because it's a unique calendar date (05-05-05) that falls right near the start of the summer travel season. Also the similarity between "05" and "50".

No clue, other than the date reads 05/05/05. Signifying 50 years.

Just one of those marketing things I guess.

Off topic, but possibly interesting:

Back in 1977 the DW of a co-worker of mine was expecting their first child. The due date was July 7th. For months he kept hoping he would get the luckiest kid born, with a birthdate of 7/7/77

The kid was born on the 5th..... :teeth:

You will now be returned to your regular thread topic... :earboy2:

Isn't that the date that Disneyland opened 50 years ago?....

I went to the Member update a couple of weeks ago and the CM said that 05/05/05 was definitely chosen because of the "50" (but backwards) to commemorate the 50th anniversary. They used it several tiimes in the presentation.

Disneyland opened on Sunday July 17, 1955. See my above post to check any date you want for important Disney events.

DL opened on July 17, 1955.

Disney has typically started each of it's anniversary celebrations a few months early and this one is no different. The 05/05/05 date has a certain "ring" to it and certainly embraces the 50 concept.

Happy Birthday Cat...
