Anyone have the 2008 DVC Pt. Chart for the Fort?

Using some of my points for next year's trip but member services is telling me its 6 pts a night (s-th) and my chart in my book shows 8 (for early august 08). I am thinking since i can't find the 2008 pt charts for Disney Collection online, maybe they went down 2 pts, but then again, MS may be wrong. I was hoping they made the whole month of August six pts for sun-thurs., wishful thinking!

I am interested in this also, as we are planning to buy into DVC when we visit DW next week. I would love to split out our double developer points (if still available) between FW & AKV next year.

I have the Disney Dreams book but it lists 2007 resorts from the "Disney Collection" as they call it. If I find the info, I will post it here.

Gonna take a quick stroll over to the DVC Board.....:surfweb:

Something else to wonder about...it was posted on another board that DVC will now be charging $95 fee for using points at a wdw resort? I was never charged that before. I know i paid $75 fee for cruising, but is it true that we will have to pay a fee for booking hotels on points now? That could be really bad for ft. wilderness point users, that is almost double what my site cost is per night! if that is the case, i am going to be one very PO'd camper (so to speak) and will probably just sell the rest of my DVC i have left.

Sounds like the $95 is what's happening from what I read in the Fall 2007 Vacation Magic we just received.

Per night?? or per stay??? If it's per night, then why use the points????

Yikes!

But I'm glad you all are posting this information. It helps me make a decision for my family, too.

Maybe what we need is a DVC Campground! With hot tubs and pool slides, of course! ;)

Yup, I saw that also. Apparently, DVC really wants it's members to stay in DVC resorts and are not having problems keeping their other resorts booked through CRO. Did this charge also apply to Concierge Collection & II also? I scrolled through and didn't see it anywhere.

Even with the $95 charge for the reservation, I still see FW being a possibility for DVC points for at least 1 week next year. Just have to decide on campsite or cabin now..... Must have my FW fix.

$95 per stay is no good.

Agreed. Then again, the 17k minimum purchase into DVC is no good either. However, the QOL (look, I abbreviated Quality Of Life just like everything else on this crazy website) :yay: this outlay of resources will give me will far outlast my initial discomfort.

Then again, it might not. In any event, it has got to be a better place to put some discretionary income than the direct marketing opportunity I got in the mail yesterday for a "carburator that runs on water". I mean, that's soooooooo 90's. I need a 21st century offering like..........

Carbon offsets?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO don't spend the 17k with disney directly. There is a link on here to buy them on the open market, you save $$$$$ and don't have to buy 160 points at once.

Yup, been looking at that too. I like the idea of smaller contracts (mostly with TTS). I like portability. I am going to give Disney a shot at my business next week, as the double developer points incentive is nice. If this is not available anymore, then I likely will not purchase.

I already have a Marriott TS in Hawaii that is a great trader......I just have add-on-it-is real bad (and young children who only care about Disney Period)!

Having said that, even if I do go Disney route for 1st contract, the add-ons will likely be thru TTS. I am especially interested in VWL (due to it's proximity to FW). It would be funny to be on the opposite end of the FW/WL boat cycle envy threads for once(I mean, I paid a lot for my room, why do I have to share with those scruffy, beer drinking campers who spend so much time bragging about their skill at backing up trailers?) :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

By way of description, see the following:

Yes, i realize that is per STAY, not per night but what i meant was for that $95 fee, i could have two more nights on cash at the fort! why can't they just leave well enough alone. From what i've heard, the DVC resorts are getting harder to get when you call (depending on resort/room/time of year) since it is getting so large, so they should be happy when i use my points at the fort, where i really don't get as good a value as i do at a dvc resort, but that is MY choice. When i use those points at the fort or ANY disney hotel, that is opening up a cash ressie at a dvc resort where they can get TOP DOLLAR for that reservation.
Since HH isn't really RV friendly, i see less and less reason why i am keeping these points, although, that $100 AP discount is nice!

BTW, those pictures above are a riot!

I just read the $95 fee and that REALLY S*cks!!! We do lots weekend and long weekend stays and if they are going to charage us $95 for each stay what good are these 310 points that I'm paying several hundred dollars a month for? :scared1:

People are really HOT  about this over on the DVC board are firing off letters and emails to MS, which I am going to do also! I suggest we all do that if this affects you! I've seen DVC retract things that upset the members. Maybe if enough people complain, it can happen, who knows.

Yup, it looks like 2008 will be the year Disney closes out ALL of the loopholes/extras we have treasured up to now (hooray for shareholders but a great big raspberry for us consumers).

I have to admit, I did eye using points for our Spring Break trips that have to be at FW. It sounds like this will not be a good deal moving forward.

You know, enough of these changes and we may just stay offsite from here on in (with FW being the only exception). I will not give up on that.

I wonder if this is what Disney wants........ I know they are doing gangbuster business w/intl visitors, but this will change too once the $ strengthens (which always happens eventually).

Maybe I will add this to my room request for next week.... :rotfl2:

Disney needs a reality check..sure, right now tourism and disney are riding a high wave but with the world we live in today, something could happen at any given time and they'd be back to BEGGING for business, practically GIVING rooms/food away just like after 9/11. Instead of soaking everyone with their constant ticket increases, restructuring rates/seasons so that it benefits THEM instead of the guest and now the nickel and diming the guest with fees, they should be thankful for their loyal guests and reward them once in awhile. Sure, i'm living in a dream world...guess thats what going to disney world does to you after so long.
I can't see giving up the fort, but i could possibly see eating out WAY WAY less while staying there and not getting an AP and not doing the parks. FtW is a nice campground in its own right and doesn't really need all the fluff surrounding it. Wonder how long i can stay there with my DVC selling profit, lol.

Oooh, I love it when you talk in your Mr. Man voice. I don't know why I decided to read this thread but I'm so glad I did. Why don't you start this as a thread of it's own so everyone can bust a gut like I did? This is the one that did it for me (you really shouldn't give me ideas like this):

Add me to the list of upset DVC members. Although we bought our membership ( and add-on contracts ) long before we bought our fifth wheel in '04, once we heard we could use points at FW we were thrilled. We have enough points to stay at a Villa for up to a month in the value season but we could have stayed at FW for two months. FW had not fallen under the transfer fee until '08 but you did have to convert your points to reservation points which could not be returned to your account if the reservation was canceled. Because we have made a major investment into a new Motor Coach we want to use that to be at WDW and FW. I may now consider selling most of my DVC points.
