Ok so I know many of us DISers like to stay at HOJO but I was wondering if anyone has ever stayed at Park Vue Inn?
The hotel is directly across the cross walk on Harbor Blvd from the main entrance to DL and we thought that if by chance no AP rates come out for the hotels of DL resort for January that we would book our stay here if it has good reviews.
We don't want to stay at a dump or a place that is less than standard when it comes to normal expectations so it would really help if anyone has stayed there if they can share their experience and any pictures if you have them.

I know there used to be a thread of hotel pictures but I can't seem to find it to see if there are any photos or info on this hotel:confused3

Anyhow your input would be great appreciated :goodvibes

Thank you

It has been several years, but I have stayed there. I don't remember it being much better or much worse than the hotels around it. So - it is nothing to write home about. You get a bed and a bathroom - both of which will just be OK. But you have a great location!

Sorry, I know this isn't very helpful, but a lot of those hotels have blurred together in my mind.

We stayed there for 9 nights last year. It's not too bad but not fancy. As for the location, it can't be beat, probably the best location possible. The pool is horrible so if this is important to you I'd skip it. The rooms have a fridge and microwave which came in handy, and the free breakfast was really good.
The rooms are about standard size and like I mentioned, not fancy. This is a motel with your entrance facing the parking lot. I heard people say that it could be loud from people walking upstairs so we requested a 2nd floor room (no elevators if this is needed) and at the back of the motel. It was really quiet where we were but walking to breakfast I could see the rooms at the front being a bit noisier.
We got a really good deal on the room and I would recommend it if you can get a good deal.
Let me say this again, the location is awesome. I got soaking wet one afternoon on the Grizzly Run, ran back to change and was back in the park within 15 minutes.

That is ok it actually is helpful because you said it was just ok and did not come in saying it was a horrible hotel that was dirty and bug infested or anything of that sort which is what we are trying to stay away from.
So than you for your input

Great info! Thank you.
As far as the pool it is not important to us as it will be January and we won't want to swim anyhow so I guess that is a good thing since the pool is so bad :goodvibes

I stayed there in 2004 and thought it was great. The room is nothing special but then I don't need fancy, just clean and comfortable. The breakfast was good and you can't beat the location. We watched the fireworks right outside our door. I would recommend it.

I'm really happy to see this thread as I will be staying at Park Vue in december. Thanks so much for the reviews.

Sorry TinkandPooh, I did not mean to hijack your thread.

No problem you did not hijack the thread I am a sharing person so I love all the input and additional questions as it really benifits me as well.

As you can see we pretty much always stay on site and I really needed all the input I could get because the one and only hotel that I have stayed at off site was the Carousel Inn and Suites (spelling?)

Anyhow no worries:hug:

I am really looking forward to staying there. I can pretty much sleep anywhere though, as long as there is running water and ac/heat. I am good. I am just so super excited about staying so close to the park. YAY :cool1:

I look back up at what I type and I have to wonder why this excites me.:confused3 I just stayed at the DLH on my last trip and that is a completely different class compared to the Park Vue... I think I am excited that I am getting another DLR trip before 09' ends.

Yes that would excite me too, so you are not alone :grouphug:

And staying anywhere would be great as long as it is at least decent and has no bugs (bugs are what scare:scared1: me the most) because all I really ever do is sleep in my room anyhow so what does it matter really KWIM

I'm afraid I have a Park Vue Inn bug story. We stayed there in Aug '07. We had a 2-room suite. It was the last room on the ground floor next to the laundry room. It was a standard room w/2 queen beds, fridge, microwave, 1 bathroom and an extra bedroom w/1 queen bed. My sister was staying in the extra bedroom and she found a rather large cockroach on her floor one evening. My husband tried to squash it but we lost sight of it. At around 1:00 a.m., I met up with the bug in the bathroom. I tried to capture it under the ice bucket but it got away. My husband heard me squealing and he came in with his rather large shoe and took care of it.

I left the ice bucket on the floor near the toilet thinking the maid would pick it up and replace it. Nope. It sat there, overturned, for the rest of our stay. We had 5 people staying in the suite and they never left more than 3 bath towels. We always had to call for more. The front desk staff was nice enough but you'd think we'd get more than 3 towels for a suite. We also noticed the coffee pot was never cleaned and the mugs we used for coffee were never washed or replaced. It just seemed like shoddy work.

My parents stayed at the same time in a smaller room with a king bed. They liked their room well enough, but I was surprised at how small it was. There was basically enough room for the bed and very little room on the sides or at the foot. These rooms are along the right side of the hotel as you're facing it, behind the office. When they checked in, their coffee maker didn't work and they had to ask to get it replaced. They got another one that didn't work and finally got a winner on the third try. Again, the front desk staff was nice and accommodating but it seemed annoying to have to ask so many times to get something that worked.

I never went up to the breakfast because we had our own food but sometimes my husband came walking back with a donut or something he picked up there. It's true, you can't beat the location. It literally right in front of the crosswalk to DL and it worked well for my dad who was riding an ECV. We had a better suite this past July at the Desert Inn which is next door to Park Vue.

Ive been staying at the Park Vue Inn 3-4 times a year for the past 8 years. The main reason I stay there is the location. You just can't beat it! The rooms are basic and have always been clean. I've never encountered a bug problem in all the times I've stayed there. The staff is always nice. The rooms include a microwave, fridge, coffee maker, iron & ironing board and blow dryer.

The free breakfast has a pretty good variety. Hot and cold cereals, frozen waffles, toast, croissants, muffins, donuts, fresh fruit, yogurt, coffee, tea, hot cocoa, orange and apple juice and milk.

I think you'll be happy there as long as you realize, it's not the Disneyland Hotel. You're feet will love you at the end of the day though! :)

I have stayed at the Park Vue at least 6 times in the past 4 years and have never encountered bugs (thankfully!). We love this place for it's location and breakfast.

We stayed there in July 2007 in 2 adjoining rooms. The rooms were fine, the bathrooms were bigger than what you would get at a value at WDW. Had a fridge and microwave. No bugs.

The pool was small. It's a typical small Southern California hotel pool that was probably original when the hotel was built...lol.

The best part is the closesness. One day at the park, my dd got a blister from her sandal. I went back to the hotel to get her different shoes while the family were finishing up their lunch. Took about 10-15 minutes.

Thanks so much to everyone who has replied to this thread! We just booked our room at the Park Vue for our May visit...so glad to hear mostly great things about it! Yeah!!

Anyone else have any comments/reviews, etc...anyone stay there recently?

I'm interested in:

1) Room location--any thoughts on where would be best? front, back, etc...

2) Breakfast still good?

3) Room size tolerable? (we have a 2 queen room)

4) Any other random bits of advice?? :)

Thanks!!!

Same here, we stay at the Parkvue inn 3-4 times a year for many years now. We love it, the location is excellent, the staff has always been pleasant, and the rooms have always been clean , we have never seen any bugs. It has been remodeled from when I first started going and its great. I can't comment on the breakfast because we always sleep in....

We were there in December. The breakfast was just fine......considering that it is free. They were microwaving frozen omlets in the back room and bringing them out - and they were very popular. But nothing else would be considered hot. Are waffles and toast considered hot?

Anyway, one of the posters in this thread (back in October) mentioned that the pool was bad. But we LOVED the pool. My kids spend most of one day (a warm Dec. day) in the pool/jacuzzi. They loved it. The area was clean and nice and surrounded by beautiful blooming bouganvillas. Yes - it is in the middle of the parking lot, but the surrounding fence really helped shield that area.

As far as room recommentations, we always ask for a room upstairs near the back. We sleep with the fan going all night, but we wanted to make sure that we don't hear road noise. And the upstairs part is so no one is stomping above us.

There is a Coldstone in the front of the hotel, and the Park Vue's website has a coupon that you can print out. But I learned from disboards (just before our December trip) that the Coldstone was not honoring the coupons. And sure enough, we saw a sign in the window when we were there. Not a big deal for us, as we weren't planning on getting ice cream there. But just a heads up in case someone had printed out the coupon and was hoping to use it.

Have a great trip!

We just got back from a stay at the Park Vue. Our room key had the Coldstone coupon offer on it, so I guess they only want guests of the hotel to have access to that offer. The breakfast is better than before. There was the belgian waffle maker, and the cheese omelets, as well as bacon and sausage, and on one day hash browns.
