We have never done either water park. My 11 yr old thinks he could handle Summit Plummet, but the more I read about it I'm not so sure I could. I realize seeing it in person is the best way to judge, but I was just wondering if anyone has any pictures they could share.
Thanks. :D

My dks were planning to ride SP even after having seen picture. However; when we arrived at BB they changed their minds. They both rode Slush Gusher and loved it but when you see the speed with which you come down Sp...it is quite intimidating! They are 7 and 10. I think you have to see it 'in person' before deciding!

My husband and 8 year old daughter did it. When you get up there and sit down, you cannot see your feet down in front of you. I passed. So did 10 yo timid son. 4 yo probably would do anything, but thank goodness he wasn't allowed. My daughter was by far the smallest child up there.

I personally would never ride it (I am 26) but my dad and DF LOVE it. I have seen many children go down it - younger than your son too. I think he will have to decide for himself when he gets there and sees it.

You can actually hear the people going down it...like the friction of their bodies on the slide.....

They say, your speed is 55-65 MPH and then you stop abruptly.

I prefer Slush Gusher which is right next to it and has a few "humps" instead of the vertical drop. Beware, there is a spot where you come off the slide (it is scary but not dangerous) You feel like you'll fall off. It is over before you have time to really get scared.

I see my site's been linked again, hope it was helpful to everybody!

Summit is DEFINITELY something you need to decide once you're at the park. There are many many people that get there and then realize how high that slide actually is. Personally, I love Summit, it's a lot of fun.

Here's the specs though. 120ft. tall, 364ft long, it's built at a 70degree angle, you slide at 60mph and it takes about 4 seconds. Yes, you can hear people sliding down it, it the friction between your body and the thin layer of water on the slide itself.

There is also a 48in height requirement to ride. And there's always the chance you may get to the top and realize that you don't want to ride down. You can see ALL of disney property from Summit, even Magic Kindom.

anyway, hope you have a great trip

I call it the Quad B for Blizzard Beach Bun Bruiser. I rode it last Friday, twice, and well, have a couple of nice bruises.

It is totally a rush and I would do it again, bruises and all. I would have done it a 3rd time but the line was getting too long for me.

There is not a theme park ride on this planet that I am afraid to ride. Even Space Mountain that I am sure one day will chop the head off my 6'7" body, I'll ride 5 or 6 times each trip.

I have not been to BB but I have been on Dare Devil Drop at Wet 'n Wild Emerald point in NC. Its only about 80 feet compared to 120 for SP. It is the scariest thing I have ever done. You get the feeling that if you don't keep your body perfectly stiff, you will "Sonny Bono" through the air. The only thing scarier is when I got to the bottom and watched my DS6 come down. I just new that he was going to panic and sit up, and come crashing headfirst.

The secret to any good thrill ride is to give the illusion that you are in danger when you are perfectly (or reasonably safe). This particular style ride does that better then any other by far.

I tried it, but did not really like it. I am not a fan of super wedgies.

DH went on this one time we were at BB...I sat on the bleachers (yes - bleachers!) facing SP. (I bet it gathers quite a crowd in the summer, but it was December in our case.)

All I did for 20 minutes while I waited for DH to come down, was watch people remove their bathingsuits from their bums! hehehe

Those pictures were great, John Remus! Thanks for putting them up.

I don't think I could ever do SP, got up there once, got dizzy, had to go back to the lazy river to regain my composure! :scared1:

I did enjoy the Toboggan Races though. :Pinkbounc

I WANNA GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A las our kids are too young for BB... maybe in a couple of years.

John... I love how you refer to Tykes peak at Hell!

Next year we're going to spend a day at BB, and my sister wants to go on SP. I have no doubt she will do it. She's the true daredevil in our family. I'll be quite happy spending the day on the Lazy River. ;)

Just now got back from Disney and ds and I did Summit Plummet. He was so excited to do it and made BB his choice for that particular day just so he could do this ride. He chickened out once we got there and he saw how high it was. I made him do it anyway, told him he'd be sorry he hadn't done it and once we got to the top of the "mtn" he was excited again.

The worst part is the anticipation and that part where you sit down and get ready to go. The ride itself turned out not to be scary at all, it didn't "feel" as vertical as it looked or what I've experienced at other water parks and maybe that's because it's over so fast. It is however, painful on the backside.

Ds turned out to LOVE that ride, he was so glad he did it.

The really painful part is that we had to wait 2 hours in line! It was already a super long wait and then they shut it down for quite a while when we were almost to the top and had waited over an hour already. Turns out they were cleaning the water out because some guy threw up on the way down. Ewwww!!!!
