We are considering having dinner at Cal Grill to coincide with Wishes. We have never eaten there before but read lots of reviews. I sometimes have issues with heights. I know I will be fine in the restaurant, but not sure about the observation deck. Could someone please post a photo of the deck? It would really help me to see the size, the railings, etc.

Thank you so much.

I don't really have any pics of the deck itself, but I've taken plenty of pics from it. I remember it as being very wide, and I felt the railings were definitely very sturdy - very thick metal. Of course, I have no issues with heights, so it's difficult to know whether you'd feel the same way. Bear in mind though, it will be dark when you are out there, so you probably won't get the same impression of height you would during the day?

Below is one of the many fireworks pics I have from the deck - hopefully this might give you an idea of what to expect in terms of view. I would say it's worth it to go outside, but if you end up not feeling comfortable with that I reckon the experience from inside will be magical too! :cloud9:

We watched the fireworks from the deck a couple weeks ago. I had been there before as a kid, but this was my first time as an adult out on the deck. I rarely have issues with heights etc, however I did have a bit of an issue this time. We were standing at the very end, kinda where the AP took his pictures from. I became a little disoriented and had to sit down for a minute. I think it was partially my own fault as I was looking down a lot, and then looked up in the sky to look at an airplane. I usually have issues with heights when I am standing on something like a ladder, and then look straight up. I think this is what happened here. I wouldnt let it stop you from going on the deck. Just dont look straight down too much and you'll probably be fine. Worst case scenerio is you can walk back closer to the exit doors which will probably help...

I have a major issue with heights. I won't ride a Ferris Wheel. :lmao: However we go out on the deck everytime we eat at CG (which is a least 2 - 3 times a year) and I never have a problem with it. DH stands close to the rail and I stand behind him and we stay near the door. & it's fine.
Good luck and have fun. it's our favorite place to eat. Penny

This picture might help. You can see that the roof of the building extends quite a ways out in front of you. You aren't standing by the edge of the roof even at the rail.

Thanks for all the info and pics. The one that shows the roof top puts my mind at ease. The area between the rails looks sort of small. Does it get completely full during Wishes?
