Anyone have more infor about possible MGM character meal?

I did call Disney Dining this week and asked about it. I asked the CM if she had any info about a new character meal at MGM - who would be there and when it would start. All she could tell me that it was "in the works" - would most likely include Buzz and should be starting up in April. I asked if it would be wise to periodically call Disney Dining back to make an ADR for this for my May trip and she said yes. So, I figure I will call about every two weeks or when anyone here has more info. You guys keep the DIS informed and I will too! I want this so badly for my DS (4) who wants to eat with Buzz! HE doesn't understand why his sister can eat with the princesses and he doesn't get Buzz. I hope this is all a go real soon!

I am so thrilled about this! ...Im going at the end of april/early may and already have ADRS for a Akershus (sp?) w/ the princesses, chef mickeys, and crystal place...i would love this to open up so we could have variety...(and also make it easier to plan day at the parks without TOO much back and forth between them.)

Still not able to book this I just got off the phone with Disney Dining, and I asked the CM about a possible new character meal at MGM. She asked me to hold on. I was getting excited because she had me on hold for a while -I was hearing her keyboard clicking alot so I thought that maybe she would come up with something. She came back to the phone and gave me a standard line about how Disney is constantly looking for new character dining experiences to accomodate their guests.....blah, blah, blah.......and that there is nothing new being offered in the near future. When there is something new it will be announced globally....yada, yada, yada. I thanked her and before she gave me the standard "thank you for calling disney dining" she said "just be sure to keep checking back here to see if something comes up". Maybe she found something but just couldn't tell me yet? I wonder.......

I've heard that the news is being spread around but that it's not in the system yet so they've been told not to talk about it. Also, the rumor is it may also be lunch with the characters too.

Don't get me wrong, I can go for a big breakfast buffet, plated, whatever. But sometimes you want to have it light, hit the parks and then have a nice sit down LUNCH to cool off, rest your feet, etc. Plus, there are not that many character LUNCH meals. I think they should capitalize on that, especially with a location in a park. Crystal Palace is ALWAYS busy at lunch whenever we've walked by.

I won't hold my breath, but would be ecstatic if they also made this a lunch meal.

I agree - I would prefer a lunch, too. One of our favorite meals used to be an early character lunch at H&V at MGM. We really miss this one! I'm sure we'll do a breakfast here, if that's all that is available - but we'd prefer a lunch. Here's hoping!!

I'm excited about a possible character lunch. We have too many character breakfasts we already love. Lunch especially in MGM would be great. I think the CS is especially dull and lacking here. We are going in June and I already have ADR's scheduled for 4 meals. I really could only change MGM meal to lunch or dinner. My DD's favorite movie is Toy Story2. We'd love to see Woody, Buzz, Jessie, Bullseye, etc.

We are already going to Donald's Breakfast, Chef Mickey's for Breakfast, LeCellier for dinner, Biergarten for dinner, Whispering Canyon for dinner. Was considering Chef Mickey's for dinner, 50's Prime time cafe for lunch, or Alfredo's for dinner.

I just got off the phone with Dining to make a couple of more ADR's and asked about this meal. She confirmed that it's a Toy Story character meal coming to MGM, but didn't know which restaurant and hasn't been told when they'll start booking it.

I really expect it to be up and going before our June trip, but I'm worried I won't find out in time to make an ADR--we're only planning one day at the Studios, but may have to make an extra trip just for this if I can't get an ADR on the day I want. And if it came down to it, I think I might give up CRT for this meal!

I spoke to dining last night as well and they said to keep checking the web-site as any new dining opportunities would appear there. Do you think the web-site would update quickly or am I still better off calling every few days?

I wonder if the rumored Disney deal with Pixar has anything to do with the upcoming meal? I wonder if Disney couldn't have Pixar characters at meals for some reason and if the deal goes through the meal will be on and we'll have more info? Did their previous agreement have anything to do with not allowing character meals? I know, that probably has nothing to do with it, but just wondering???
Can't wait for this meal to FINALLY become a reality for my DS and all the boys out there!!!

Thats funny.. I called this morning, too, and again, the CM I spoke to acted like they never heard of it, she said to me, "really?? I havent heard about anything!" aarrgghhh!

Well, unless the CM's are on the DISboards or other message boards, they probably haven't heard about it. Most of them aren't even on property, they are in Tampa at a call center. They only know what pops up on their computer.

Anyway, good to hear that it might be soon. I am excited!
