Anyone have issues changing reservation to check out early?

Good morning,

I booked a 9 night free dining stay in December. I am trying to change the checkout to 2 days earlier and nothing else on my reservation. I tried online and it wouldn't let me. I called customer service and they said they couldn't do it either. Anyone ever have any luck getting this changed or what department might be able to help? I have already talked to reservations and guest services. They just tell me to check back later.

If there's no availability for a new 7 night reservation under the Free Dining offer, Guest Services are the only ones that can override the system. But as you're finding out, sometimes they say no. Keep checking for availability or try Guest Services again.
 
We have had to leave a day early on two trips, both times we were able to do so without incurring a fee or penalty. But neither trip had free dining.
 
The only time I needed to do that was once when I was already at Disney. I went down to the front desk and explained the situation and they were able to cancel the remaining nights and refund my card. Good luck!
 

Problem is it leaves them with a room with only 2 nights open. Makes it hard to fill and will not even be eligible for free dining. Keep trying, maybe someone will be willing to change it.
 
I believe that Disney is no longer as accommodating. I wanted to make a change and reduce my stay (BB) and while I was able to do so, I needed to change my view and pay the additional cost. It was still less money for me, and I really did not want to stay the weekend, so I paid the difference.

The days of ‘pruning’ a reservation once plans are firmed up by deleting a couple of days at the beginning or the end of a reservation are gone. Presumably too many people were doing so, thus the change in policy a couple of years ago. If you need to reduce your stay to 7 days now your best bet is to find whatever resort/view is currently available for 7 days using whatever discount would apply, then call and cancel what you have & book the new reservation. Or, you can wait and try again later hoping that whatever computer algorithm controls what can/cannot be booked and for how long and w/ which discount allows you to reduce your stay.
 
Earlier this month I had booked 4 rooms AP discount, no dining or package at CBR and I needed to delete one day at the end. I could not do it on line. I called and was told that CM could not do it, but they referred it "up the chain" and it was taken care of though not whilst I was on the phone. Instead, I got an email later saying it had been changed.
