While on our Disney World Vacation , my family wants to take a day to go to Sea World. While I would like to as well, Is it really worth the 50.00 to go? I would be out $150.00 for me, husband & son.
Please let me know if you like or dis-like going?
Thanks

We went in August, and I'm sure that had a lot to do with our experience. It was the single hottest themepark I have EVER been in. I grew up in Southern CA and visited the Sea World in San Diego too many times to count as a child/young adult. I always loved it, so when we went to Orlando the first time I jumped on the chance to go.

There is very little shade so very little relief from the oppressive august heat. It was extremely crowded and they seemed understaffed. The shows required a line up up to 1 hour in advance, just standing there in the heat. If you weren't in line then you didn't get in because the stadiums filled to capacity so quickly.

Now, this was back in 2001 so it may be much different and you may be going at a less high-demand time of year.

I think I would base it on how much you think each individual member would get out of the trip. How old is your son? Our preschool aged child who adores anything aquarium related did not enjoy Sea World because it was too much waiting (waiting to get into shows, waiting for the show to begin, etc) There was almost nothing to keep her attention for more than 5 minutes the entire day and this is a child who can spend hours on a single project.

We will go back but probably while we are in Southern CA visiting family and not to the one in Orlando. I don't want the post to turn you off completely, it's a wonderful educational opportunity and the animals are beautiful and well cared for. We just didn't get $50 worth of enjoyment out of it!

If you have never been to a Sea World I would say go!!! My daughter loves this park the best . Shes 9 now but she went at age 3 and 5 and will be back Sunday. She knows were going to Disney but the big surprise for her is going to see Shamu.
You can save 20% off if you sign up for Southwest rapid rewards card. Its free and you print out the card at home.
I do agree it can get very hot but its easy to cool off in a splash zone. They also have a great play area for kids where they can get cooled off.
I also think its one of the prettiest parks.

We went at the end of June 2003, our first day of our trip. It rained that day so I guess that helped the crowds. But we enjoyed it alot and would go back. I would like to go to discovery cove (operated by SeaWorld) but the $$$ holds me back.:bounce: :Pinkbounc :earseek:

We just got back and went to SeaWorld twice over the last couple of weeks. We love this place. It is a different kind of day to most theme parks because to get the most out of it you have to attend the shows - if you plan it right it can actually be quite a relaxing day as you spend a lot of time sitting down watching shows.

We found it was best to get to the shows 20-30 mins before start and this was usually adequate to get a good seat - most of the shows have some form of pre-show entertainment so you aren't just sitting there staring into space.

Kraken is one of the best coasters in town, and Journey to Atlantis is a great ride as well. There is more than enough to do to fill a day so I would say, yes, it is worth the $50 to go. (and there are usually discounts available on the SeaWorld website.)

we are going in dec while we are at disney also doing universal then dis then cruise so we are excited again i would say go get the most out of your time in florida it is probably worth it and check ticketmania.com to see if cheaper tickets are available

My family has always loved SW. It has been the favorite park for a long time. We go with 5 kids and the ages have ranged from babies to teens. I don't understand the other post about the lines for shows, etc. I have never seen this and we went quit often since we had passes. In fact, after going to Universal or WDW, we like going to SW because it's just an easier day. More relaxed than the others.
Definately worth the money!!

The Travel Channel has a show on Sea World on Fri May 14 at 6pm ET. Maybe you can get some more info then.:wave2:

We love SeaWorld. We had Fun Cards last year (annual passes). There is a great play area for kids (bring bathing suits!) The shows are great (don't miss Pets Ahoy!) We never waited in a line to see one. Since we have small children, we always walked into the shows within 5 minutes of the start time. We love Kraken. If you go early in the day, you may be able to walk on. We never had to wait more than 10 minutes.

I do agree that it can get very hot in the summer, but you can always duck into a gift shop to cool off. Mister fans help, too.

Bring a lunch, though, because the food is horrible and expensive. The Anheuser Busch hospitality center gives free beer to adults, however (in 12 ounce cups!)

Have you checked out the Sea World forum on these boards?

One thing they do at Sea World is have a refillable soda cup with refills for $1 I think which helps alot. Unfortunatelly they serve PEPSI yuck!

We were recently at SeaWorld and while we were leaving the park we noticed a line of people and when I inquired what they were waiting for I was told they have a deal where you can get your SeaWorld stub stamped or marked somehow and than you can return to the park anytime within the next 7-days free of charge. We would have taken advantage of it but we were checking into Disney the next day so we would'nt be able to use it.

Now, I'm a disney fanatic just like everyone else here :hyper: but, I do Love Sea World! Its got a ton of great shows and lots of interesting facts. Its by going to Sea World, my 7 year old daughter has decided she wants to swim with Shamu for her job when she gets older!:thewave:
IMO its definately a must see park. We've just renewed our fun passes for two years:cheer2: I can't wait to go again!

Oh and one more thing! Don't miss "the mime" show before the Clyde and Seamore show! Its our favorite part of the day:)

We love Sea World!!!! Definitely go!!! You will be glad you did. We are going for 2 days this June. We found that it is hard to see all the shows in one day without rushing yourself to death so we are doing it in 2 days to be more relaxed and to enjoy it more. It is hot especially in June but at the Shamu shows and the Dolphin shows you can sit in the splash zone and get cooled off and you can also ride Atlantis and get cooled off. We purchased the fun cards for only $5 more than a one day pass and then you can go unlimited times. Go and enjoy. :) We can't wait to see Shamu again.

Hello,

We loved Sea World when we had one in Ohio. Boy sure do miss those days. Anyway watch the splash zone because you will not just get cooled off. You will get soaked. So belive the warning about the first 10 or so rows. Having never been to disney we are opting out of going to sea world this year but would love to as they have a baby whale. So I do think it is worth the 50 some bucks that they charge. Its lots of fun and your children will remember that they got to feed sea lions and dolphins long after everything is over. Go and enjoy.

What happened to SW in Ohio?
It closed?

It closed several yrs ago. First Geagua Lake sold out to Six Flags. Then they made The Sea World people an offer they couldn't refuse. I mean the place was only open for like 4 month out of the yr and it wasn't at all as big as the others. So they accepeted the offer. It was call Six Flags worlds of adventure. It was pretty nice but they in no way kept it as clean as the other two parks. The kept most of the marine animals. However Clyde and Semore had to change their name to Skip and Dudly. For the first yr they didn't have any Wales at all. Last yr they got one from France but he had a hard time adjusting to the time change I guess. Wasn't what it was suppose to be compaired to its rival. Anyway long story short they were going to make it the Disney of the Midwest as it said in the paper. Well after they sold everyone there season passes at "the lowest price this season" at Chirstmas time. They then sold the whole kit and kabbodle to Ceader Points parent co. No more Six Flags Worlds of Adventure. No more marine Animals in Ohio. So now its back to plan old Geagua Lake until it gets a new idenity yet again. Can't tell ya how the new park will compair because they say that both side will be used. However the season just started last week and I haven't been. But basied on Ceader Pt it sould be fairly nice. They say that the prices will go back to {"orginal " which is like aprox $45. However watch out next year cause I'm sure once they figure out what they are acutaly going to do with it the prices are gonna skyrocket. Oh yea I guess they are going to keep the water sky show so thats something that will still be there. But yea I'm sure its cost the reagion alot of money. Cause you just couldn't get an experince like that in our region.

P.S. Sorry I tryed to make the story complet but shortened.
