Anyone have experience with Synvisc or Euflexxa Injections?

I am so glad to find this thread.

I've been having major knee pains for awhile. I saw a doctor about two weeks ago and he suggested some type of injections. I'm not 100% sure if it is these type as I've opted to go for x-rays first and then go back and find out exactly what type of injections they are talking about.

I may need to come back to this thread with questions.

Don't do Cortisone shots! I hated them! It hurt so badly afterwards, I could hardly walk for almost 3 days!

This last shot I had was pretty bad too though, but I think that's because he was moving the needle around. I have a good size bruise and I can see where the needles where.

I was told they were some type of vitamin shots. According to what he said they have had some great success with them. My knees lock up terrible sometimes and I physically have to move them. I am just looking for some type of relief that I can get to a standing position from sitting and walking around.

I did refuse to do anything without the official x-rays and I really wanted a MRI but the Doctor said the insurance company wouldn't OK that before x-rays were taking. I got the impression he was pushing the shots and couldn't give me any guarantee that I would get relief even with them.

Can't respond about the shots but I can say that while meds approved by the FDA in 2004 are new medications, I can almost guarantee that they have been used outside the USA for longer where the restrictions aren't as stringent (doesn't mean that FDA regulations are "safer" just "tougher"). The FDA also makes mistakes (vioxx) and there are certainly meds/procedures that you can get in Europe that you cant get here that are proven safe... I wouldn't go by the FDA. Newer meds are sometimes better and safer than older meds. And all people tolerate medication differently.

I'm on a medication that was FDA approved six months before I started taking it. The research for it had been going on for ten years prior to FDA approval. The process is just that slow.

I had an MRI because I had fallen and we didn't know what kind of injury I had sustained. I had a 5 cm. bone contusion, along with moderate grade chondromalacia (OA).

I wouldn't have anything done without an MRI, CT scan or x-ray first. In fact, before I started the Synvisc, I requested an additional x-ray which they could do right there at the office.

I wouldn't expect Blondie to reply since she hasn't posted in a year. Dec. 2015 was the last time she posted. If you want my experience I had the shots in both knees and they didn't work at all.
