We have been to DL several times and have had help with the Guest Asst pass ... we have not been since they new program has been put into place. ( my son has autism).

Can anyone share how it has gone? Easy? Difficult? Tips?

Thanks

Interesting, I haven't heard of an Autism-specific program. Can't wait to hear more about it.

I think you are referring to the old GAC pass. As far as I know there isn't anything Autism specific. DD is on the spectrum. When we went last month, we obtained a DAS - Disability Assistance Services from city hall. That is the new system implemented a few years ago. You go to city hall (with all the tickets for your party) with your child and tell them what accomodation they need. They tie the DAS to the persons ticket that needs the DAS. They will give you a return time for whatever ride you want. There are kiosks around the park where you can get additional times. You can also get one for DCA while you are in DL and vice versa. We found the system very easy and helpful.

We have used both the old GAC and the newer DAS for our son on multiple trips each. If you want any advice about the new DAS, please feel free to send me a pm and I would be happy to help!

What did you say to town hall for the reasoning for the pass? The reason I ask I too have an autistic son and was wondering if I should or shouldn't get the pass

Your child's needs and mine may be different. You just need to tell them the reason why your child needs an alternate queue. My child happens to have many sensory issues that make her prone to meltdowns.

It is generally frowned upon to post exact wording. Just explain to the CM what your son's needs are and how an alternate waiting area would help with those needs.

Thanks for that my sons is super sensory as well my son is also bad in tight enclosed areas with lots of people for long periods as well

Any advice is appreciated for this as I have been many times before but never used DAS last year he wasn't tall enough to ride all the good rides I love

There's a great DAS forum on the DIS site tHAT HELPED MY Sister In Law with her daughter whom is severley autistic. :)

Follow the link in my signature to the disABILITIES Board and look near the top of that board for the DL DAS thread (or follow this link).

http://www.disboards.com/threads/dl...-1-update-12-7-14-das-tied-to-ticket.3179460/

The FIRST post in the thread has up to date information and should answer all your questions.
The rest of the thread was written either before or in the early days of DAS - some was rumor, but I would suggest not bothering to read more than the first posts.
