Two years ago my daughter started getting unexplainable bruises. It turned out she had a blood disorder called ITP. Her body was destoying her good platelets. After 3 days in the hospital for steroid treatments and 14 months of platelet counts her hemotologist released her.

Recently she has been a royal pain in my butt. She's defiant and scatter brained. She acted the same way when the ITP came up before. I should add, I counted 6 bruises on her last night. Some are in odd places, one is really big and she has no idea how she got it. Does anyone else have a child with ITP that has had the same symptoms?

I have no experience with this. I hope your daughter is alright and I'll just bump this back to page one for you.

DH has ITP, he has been hospitalized 3 times in the last 5 years for treatment. From what I have read it seems that children usually only have 1 episode and then they are considered cured. (of course I am not a medical professional so it is very possible that I am wrong.) DH never had the moodiness before he was diagnosed so I do not know if that is a symptom or not. He had petechiae, (the red bumps on the skin) and uncontrollable nose bleeds. I guess if you are unsure it would not hurt to call her doctor. How old is you DD, could the moodiness be hormone related? Anyway, good luck, let us know what happens. If you think she may be getting sick again you may want to limit her physical activity so she does not fall, internal bleeding is a big problem with ITP.
