Anyone have experience at Calypso Cay Vacation Villas?

My family is considering staying here in late November (we are also considering the Marriott Horizons and Cypress Harbour). I'm having trouble finding reviews of this property. Anyone out there have experience with this property?

We are planning to spend time at WDW and will probably need a break in the PM as our children are young (2 and 5). I'm concerned about getting on and off site twice a day. How tough is it? How far away are these properties?

Calypso Cay Vacation Villas does not allow pets. but every hotel on its property does allow pets.

some owners allow their pets to wonder around free. they don't seem to realize in a strange situation even a nice dog could and might bite.

I would stick to one of the Marriott.

Calypso Cay Vacation Villas is not but about 5 minutes closer. that say turning left out of it can take longer than 5 minutes.

there is not a traffic light on 536 for this place.

Horizons is designed with your childrens ages in mind. You can take either I4 or ID to Disney.

the Cypress Harbour and Horizons are across the street from each other. So to get to Disney around 15 minutes - probably less time most of the time. the only problem I have seem is the traffic along I4 - sometimes this makes it 45 minutes.
now if you don't care about construction and you really want to be close - the Palms - Imperial, Sabal and Royal - are about 3 to 5 minutes from WDW. much closer than Calypso Cay Vacation Villas.

Thanks for the information. I think we will probably stick to one of the Marriott properties.

I'll look at one of the closer properties as well. Marriott's Imperial Palm Villas is one of my possibilities. I have a friend who is letting me use a coupon week through II. I don't know much about any of this, but it seemed like a great deal. How extensive is the construction at this resort?

You mentioned how long it takes to get to the resort, and that's a big factor for us. We have two small children and are hoping to get back to the hotel for a rest in the afternoon before hitting the parks again in the evening. How much of a headache is it to go, leave, and go back?

hey I was not only going to the parks - but visiting Spicey at FW 4 times each day.

believe me it is not long. the only problem is the MK - because you have to park the car - then take the tram - then take the monrail or ferry - allow an hour once you park the car to get to the MK - same time coming back.

so when one of your kids looks like they have started to melt down - doesn't want to do anything, starts to complaint - get out THEN - don't wait - because at the MK - it takes forever to get to the parking lot....

heck on a good day - it will take less time for you drive to the parking lot from any of the Marriott then to walk to end of the parking lot, wait for and take the tram to began your MK transportation. those parking lots are BIG. - so remember to write down where you are - you don't want to get lost in any of the WDW parking lots.

the Imperial Palms gets better rating by far than Royal - you can look on these sites and see what you think. You realized that Imperial is only 3-bedroom. Horizons and Cypress are 2-bedrooms.

Thanks so much for your input. I'll take a look at those links.

I didn't realize how close the Imperial is to WDW. I have a friend who says it is such a headache if you have to drive to the parks, especially if you have to get on I-4.

I'm going to start another thread on this topic to see if anyone else has additional info to share. Thanks again for the input. It is helping me along in the decision making process!

We stayed at Calypso Cay 2 years ago and loved it. The pool area was great for our kids and they also had a small minature golf course and playground. Very nice resort.
