I know a lot of people complain about problems with directv, but does anyone have any experience with Dish Network? Right now I am paying $86. That does include two boxes and one is a DVR, but it still seems really high. I would appreciate any input you have. TIA!

We have had Dish Network for almost 14 years now. We have two DVR boxes. We have truly NEVER had a problem with anything (other than an equipment failure that was actually DH's fault from poor installation... we bought this years ago before there was any such thing as free installation!! :rotfl:). I recommend it to anyone who asks. I can't comment on whether or not they are the cheapest option around... I'm sure that basic cable would be cheaper, but we LOVE our Dish Network...........P

Thanks for you quick response. I called to price them, and after the promotional offer goes away it will go up to $65 dollars! Don't know if its even worth uninstalling everything and taking it to the store and having new equipment installed.

We had dish network and we hated it. We lived in a small rural town and it was dish or no tv. Whenever there was a storm, no tv, and this was up until last summer, so no it hasn't been upgraded to fix that. One of our receivers wasn't working and it took 2 weeks to get someone out to help us. When we moved, they wanted the boxes back which we paid for and had to go back through our bank records to find the returned check for. I will never, ever use dish network again!

I had dish network for several years then switched to Directv for HD service. Directtv gets on my nerves because it is slower when looking things up but i believe that you get more channels for the money with Directv. Dish Network also went out every time a little storm rolled in. I would choose Directv over Dish.

We've had Dish for several years, and no major problems. We've had to keep a close eye on the bills because we had some crazy charges pop up saying we downloaded pay per view or movie channels via remote (which we didn't), but it didn't take long to work out over the phone with customer service (you might have to do a little arguing, but if you keep at it they'll take the charges off your bill). Any time we've had technical problems, they've been quick to help us out.

In our area, they're a good bit cheaper than DirecTV, and I know a lot of people who've had serious problems with DirecTV too. Another thing, once your promotional period ends and you're out of a contract, try calling back and giving them the "DirecTV is offering us this to switch ... can you match it?" spill. We ended up with 3 extra months of Showtime & HBO for free and a year of Cinemax for a penny.

In case you're wondering, we have 2 receivers with DVR, we're on the Top 100 package, and we have local programming. Our bill is only about $45 a month.

We have the exact same package as you OP. And we pay the same amount! We love DN. It was hard at first as they seemed to take forever in adding digital channels but now we are pleased. We've only had one small issue with our reciever and they sent a new one out and paid for us to post the old one back.
I've always been pleased with their customer service.

We are tempted to switch to Fios which has just come to our area but DH loves the College Football DN package and he won't let that go! I feel what we pay is comparable to everything else out there.
