Anyone have dial-up internet anymore?

for those who say that dialin isn't much slower, probably part of that is the sites that you've already visited have "cached" the images...so all of the signatures, bars, frames, etc. that you see here stay on your computer and just load instantly...the rest is mostly text, so that would be quick.

Now go to a graphics intensive site you haven't ever been to before, and it will be different I bet

Dial-upper here, for various reasons. I much prefer the high-speed that I use at my daughter's house, but my dialup at home isn't TOO bad. I know I will switch within the year, though.

My parents have dial-up. I absolutely hate having to use their computer for anything! Its really slow.

My sister has Netzero dial-up since the DSL is still one street away - this has gone on for the last yr now. Tough to think that in a large city they have not connected every street yet. She is happy with it since she does not use the internet except in the evening.

The same thing happend to a coworker of mine two years ago. His street didn't have DSL and he ended up getting satellite for awhile.

I had dial up until last month. Honestly except for downloads I don't notice that much of a difference. I can download a song from iTunes now in under a minute instead of 15 minutes. Most pages load about the same

15 minutes to download a song on iTunes is pretty good for a dial up connection. One of my friends who had dial up until 2007 said it would take 30-45 minutes to download a song.

We do! We switched to cable for a very short time and then switched back. The ridiculous price for a cable connection was absurd.
