My DS7 asked me the other day why I was so angry. I wasn't angry at all. Then a few days later a teacher told me I looked like I had a headache.

I love my mother dearly but I take after her as far as the lines on my forehead and the 11 between the brows.

Anyone care to enlighten me on their botox/dysport experience?

Well I know this may not be exactly what you are looking for but my Father has had a series of Botox shots to help the pain in his shoulder and hand after a mini-stroke last year. He didn't have any crazy reaction and it seems to help his symptoms.

I think it's been around enough to give it a try, i'd probably consider it myself when I reach my 40's. I am sure Priscilla Presley has had a LOT more done to her face than Botox.

I've had the || lines between my brows forever! I hate them - it looks like I'm always mad or frowning. I've tried Botox and Dysport. My frown is 'pretty impressive' (docs term, lol!) so it took a fair amount to help. The more you need, however, the more it costs.

I think the Dysport results started to show up a bit quicker than Botox, 3 days vs 7-11 days. Botox may have lasted a bit longer.... but I'm not sure. There is a rebate going on now with Dysport, not sure about Botox.

Because I have such a strong frown, I need a pretty high dose. I paid just under $300 for my latest injections. It will last about 3 months for me.

I don't have the lines on my forhead done and I can still frown... just not quite as strongly! My dauthter's no longer say, "Mom stop frowning!" when I really wasn't!

Nothing looks plastic or fake (think Nicole Kidman) about my face. I still have all of my expression, I just don't look mad all the time now!

Hope this helps!

Yes, this helps a lot. I am tired of looking mad, angry, or just plain tired when I'm really not! I read that Dysport last longer and costs less, but that more of the product is needed than Botox to do the same thing so I guess it kind of evens out.

I have had Botox for frown lines before & was satisfied with it except it didn't last long enough. I think I will try Juvaderm next time because it lasts longer

Yes, it really depends on who you go to. I've seen some bad, overly Botoxed people. I know of one guy who had a great job done. Very light work. I wanted to know who did it, but it was someone down in D.C. Now, I wish I had gotten the name of the Dr. I might have hopped on the train, if I knew I'd be getting a good, discreet job.

I'm more interested in getting Juvederm or Restyline for my frown lines. That's where I really show my age.

I get Botox injections every 3-4 months and have done this for over 3 years now. I get them in my forehead and the corner of my eyes to help control extreme migraines. The needles are tiny and the shots are relatively painless. I usually take 2-3 ibuprofen an hour before my appointment and this helps.

My suggestion is that you find a doctor that really knows what he is doing and you won't end up looking plastic. It will simply help relax those wrinkles and smooth them out. It starts working on me after 4 days, with maximum results in about 10. I truly feel that Botox has been a godsend for me and has made my migraines tolerable.

For the record, Botox is not used around the mouth.

Agreed.

I got mine for vanity (this past Wednesday would have been 2 weeks) and ended up losing headaches in the process. Coming from someone who had daily headaches, I am beyond impressed.

I got 23 units - 3 injections in the frown area (which I hated! HATED! I caght myself, like the OP always scowling, and I wasn't mad, or confused - hence why I was probably always getting headaches, too) and 3 up top of my forehead, just below hairline-ish.

I, like another poster mentioned, still have full range of my brows. I just got rid of the scowl.

I love it. I love it, I love it, I love it. My one of my best g/f's husband is a surgeon who owns a really large medical practice, which includes a Med-Spa. I was able to get the Botox at a discounted price....about $10 or so a unit (they normally charge about 14) So it cost me $230.

For me, a first timer, it took just a few days to be able to tell - however my peak results were at 2 weeks. I'm so in awe of this product.

As far as cosmetic procedures go, Botox is the biggest bang for your buck. You can buy wrinkle creams by the gallon, but it's not going to get rid of hereditary muscle contractions. My entire father's side of my family has "11's" and my son will have it (he has a faint line, now - at 14!!!)

I say - go for it. Try it. If you don't like it, it wears off. If you do like it, it's an inexpensive product to use.

Like other poster's mentioned, be sure to go somewhere that has a reputation for doing a good job. :)

I could even send you some before afters of my own experience.... PM me.

LOL - sorry, I forgot.... it lifts your brow up, too. Which is kinda nice. I have a subtle brow arch. Looks good. Looks bright eyed and bushy tailed.

The problem with this, is that she along with some others decided to use someone cheaper. He actually got sued, he wasn't using botox. I don't understand if you are going to use these services, use someone that has good record of results. Not some person that comes in from another country and for all I know he wasn't even liscensed

Really?? That's good to know. I wonder if it would help me. I have such heavy brows, it's hereditary, none of my family has eyelids:lmao: Been considering an eyelid lift but botox would be a bit cheaper!

I don't have an "11" between my eyes, but a horizontal wrinkle line across the bridge of my nose between my eyes. Anyone know will botox help with that?

What do people use around the mouth? I have those wrinkles above my upper lip I'd like to have done.

They use Juvederm or Restylane, which is what I already wrote above. Do people NOT read each others posts when there are only 15 posts and one page? Or am I still on some people's Ignore List? :confused3

Juvederm and Restylane are simply collagen type fillers. They are soft, and therefore are flexible and can move as a person smiles or frowns. It plumps up the frown lines for about 6 - 9 months. Botox isn't used around the mouth as it freezes the area in place.

I had botox twice for blepharospasm. It worked wonderful and made my wrinkles go away too :worship:

I had it done one more time just for the wrinkles.

It stings a lot, but I would do it again if I could afford it.

You are not on my ignore list...no one is

Sorry! I did read all the posts but must have missed what you wrote..my 53 year old brain does get distracted from time to time. Thank you for answering my question. :worship:

I didn't have any sting. I read some people get that - but to be truthful, I was just panic'd!!! WHAT IS A PERSON WITH ANXIETY DOING, SHOOTING BOTULISM TOXIN INTO THEIR FACE?!?! That's what I was thinking. Maybe it stung, I didnt feel a thing. I was worrying about other things. Like life long paralyzing of my face.

And Imzadi is right. No Botox around the mouth. Botox freeze muscles. You don't want frozen muscles around your mouth. You would need a filler. (i.e. what she mentioned - Juvaderm, Restalyne, etc)

I'll tell you, the first few days, all I could think of was "What did I do?!?!" I was so worried I'd have an adverse reaction AFTER I'd already done it. Then I started seeing the results, and said - well, I'll just do it this once. I'm at full results, and I see myself doing this for eternity. I just love it. I don't look any different, but well rested, brighter - just better. AND no headaches.

But I could absolutely see how plastic surgery addicted people get like that. With this milky smooth perfect forehead I look at my nose to mouth lines and go "Hmmm.... what if I .... ???" see what I mean? You could easily get carried away.

I love it, though. Long live Botox. :worship:

Whoops! I forgot the ;) smilie after my Ignore List question, to let you know I was just joking. Sometimes, it feels like I must be on people's Ignore List, when they accidentally skim or skip by my post and then ask what I just answered, or someone else repeats the same thing a couple posts down, and people are quoting them.
