Anyone have any problems using the cares harness on the plane?

Our last trip the woman in front of me had one for her child. I asked her all about it. It looked easy to use. In fact, if I didn't know what a Cares harness was I would have had no idea she was using one. She said it was easy to use and she has never had a problem with it.

We have used one several times without any problems. We love ours!

We used ours with DS #2 when he was 18 months (or so) and DS keep slipping under the belt and I took it off. It didn't work well for us but other moms with older kids have reported positively.

We have used ours several times. One passenger was concerned about being able to open her tray table when I was putting it on DS but as soon as she figured out what I was doing she was fine. One flight attendant asked about it - but no issues; she just had never seen it before. And on another flight the entire staff came over to see how it worked because they had heard about it but never seen one. DS was the star of that flight! :)

I only had one flight attendant question me about it and i've used it about 20 times. But the one that did question me about it was VERY VERY rude, insisted i couldn't use it for take off and landing (as though it would be safer for a 2 year old to just have a regular seat belt? wth). I took out the little booklet they gave you with it and showed her the faa regulation and she took the booklet w/ her to try to argue to the captain of the plane that I was wrong, but he disagreed, showed her the regulation and then she let me put it on.

Asside from this one evil lady i believe it was a north west flight everyone else has thought it is very neet and some of the flight attendents ask how it works so they can get one for their children.

I was going to use it last year with my then 21 month old son and the flight attendants wouldnt let me cause they said he had to be 2 before we could.....

I used it back in June/July and the flight attendants were great about it. They told me that I was a smart mommy for bringing that. My little one never slid out at 19m. They do have a limit I think of 40lbs (like over 40lbs cant use it), but the creator of it is looking to get another certified for over 40lbs.

We used it last year for our WDW trip and had no issues what so ever with it. Nothing was said...worked well...we will be using it again for this upcoming trip too.

Does the booklet that comes with it spell out the weight/height restrictions -- and state that it's FAA approved, etc.? In other words, is it handy to have that book to whip out in case a F/A does protest?

Sounds like the FA was confusing the CARES harness with the Baby B'Air which cannnot be used during take off and landing.

No problems using it on Southwest. I explained what I was doing to the lady behind me & told her it wouldn't interfere w/ her tray.

Only problems I had were with DD. LOL She figured out really quickly how to 1) slide out beneath it & 2) unbuckle. :( Oh, well. LOL (She was 3 y/o...I didn't bother w/ it on the way home.)

It comes w/ a book that states its FAA approved, and a tag ON IT that states the same thing.

We used it with our DD who had turned 2 just a few days prior to our trip. It worked great. That has been a couple years ago, but there was a lady on ebay who "rented" them. It was much cheaper than buying and since we don't fly very often, it worked out well.

I plan to rent one for DD for our flights this Sept. and Oct. ~ she just outgrew her travel seat (Cosco Scenera). If anything she's barely over the weight limit ~ but she's definitely a couple inches over the height limit (however her height is in her legs, when she's sitting she's pretty small) - but check this out - http://www.car-seat.org/showthread.php?t=93609 *my child is not special needs ~ I'm just a bit of a child passenger safety nut (I'm actually a certified child passenger safety tech)

Perhaps I should purchase one and rent it out on eBay :scratchin

*I certainly don't want to drag her main car seat (Britax Wizard) throught the airports that thing is huge. We'll just be using Disney transportation during our visit ~ ME & busses.

**Adding ~ I just realized the weight limit is 44 lbs (I assumed just 40 lbs) ~ DD is for sure under the weight limit!
