Anyone have any luck requesting a specific server?

Hello all.....wife and I will be cruising on the May 10th Western Magic....did the same cruise 18 months ago but the eastern swing....had a server named Sasha Sasic.....who was fabulous....and the best part of it was we sat with a family of 5 from Pennsylvania that we still talk with from time to time....they were great....but not a great as Sasha....appetizers...dinners...deserts....there never was just one a person....we tried so many different things...he made our cruise very special....and when it came to tips I made sure I made his special too.....so I e-mailed DCL through guest communications and they basically told me it was impossible for them to assign anyone a server and gave me all the reasons for it....now I understand that her might be on leave, etc. but they game me the impression that they would not even attempt....so I wrote back and questioned there response....and got a quick response that the servers are assinged by the dining room manager and when we board we should go to Rockin Bar D to see if it can be arranged....a nd they would note it on our reservations....anyone have any imput on our chances...he was just great....Thanks all!

Hi Tom! As DCL told you, they do not take server requests in advance. They may note it on your reservation but that honestly goes NOWHERE; it's just too hard for them to try accommodate requests other than seating times.

If you really want a particular server you will need to go to the place and time listed in the Personal Navigator for dining changes. Be aware that you may end up having to change seating time, restaurant rotation and table size just to get that server, if you even are able to switch.

Thanks for the info Michelle....it's just that I see occasionally on the boards people claiming they request specific servers and they get them....just thought I would try....and it would be nice if they changed my seating...we wanted early and got late....so that would work for us....

We have requested a specific server twice and never had a problem. Once on the Wonder and this past week on the Magic. We went to the specified time to change the Dining Rotation, they said they would try and then to check with the Head Server at Dinner time.

The first time they moved us to another table. Last week they moved the server to our table.

Also, this past cruise there was another couple who also requested the same server, we requested first so we got him. They said that they couldn't do it for the other couple because it would disrupt too many other cruisers to make yet another change.

So go for it.

TChrist - Sasha is still on the Magic (as of the March 29 Mystery Cruise) anyway. However, I suggest you lose about 10 lbs. before requesting him as a server! He does NOT take 'no' for an answer!!! Yes he is fabulous. I would be happy to change dining time/rotation or whatever to get him again. Others have praised many different servers though, so I guess DCL just must get the 'cream of the crop.' Good Luck!

Sasha has a following. I started another thread about him just the other day... trying to determine if he was still on board so that we could request him. The response I received from a Dis'er is that he was there 3/29 and was their server. He indicated to them that he would be there at least until the end of summer.

I have requested him through our TA which is DU. She took my info and said she was able to note it on our reservation. Will it be successful? Don't know... but I do plan to go to wherever they're taking change requests to confirm/or try to change once we board.

We love Sasha too!!! BTW... we are on 5/31 so there's no competition here If you get him... tell him Ginger, Breckan & Chad from AL are on the way and are trying to request him!!! (Hey... maybe he could request us if he knows we're coming???)

Oh you got that right....Sasha is tremendous....has to be the best server we have ever had....and we have been on 4 cruises so far....so we will do what is suggested and give it a shot...Thanks...
