I think I have drank about a gallon of Nyquil and have been battling this darn cold for about 4 or 5 days.

Went to the doc and they gave me some antibiotics incause I developed an infection (sinius) but nothing much more.

Jack Daniels and peppermints are starting to sound pretty good about now.

Vitamin C and lots of it.

Orange juice and vitamin tablets, they will ease symptoms as well as help you fight it off.

Hope you feel better soon!

Try using a neti pot to clean your sinuses. It looks nasty, but it works wonders.

My home remedy brew a cup of tea, add a tablespoon of honey, a good serving of lemon juice concentrate and a liberal portion of scotch.

It won't cure the common cold but if you drink enough of it, you won't care anymore.

I concur with the neti pot (I have the squeeze bottle version, but same process) - gross but seems to help. Before Christmas, I was down with a bad cold for a week and then the subsequent cough for two more weeks. When I was back at the gym afterward, my trainer suggested drinking several ounces of cider vinegar slightly diluted with water once or twice a day...and I thought the neti pot was gross! She swears by it. I am planning to try it next time this happens.

Hope you feel better!

Neti Pot & gargle with Listerine. My dr will send away anyone in his office with a cold who hasn't been gargling with Listerine, with instructions to start. We will even have DD do it when she has a cold - but we water hers down.

Feel better soon...

John and I have been having good luck with the Mucinex products.

You's have to buy the one that most closely fits your symptoms.

I swear by Zicam in all its incarnations! I use the nose swabs but there are also chewables, nasal sprays, melt aways...but it'll cut a cold in half!

I hope you get better. I like Mucinex products also. Chicken soup and Vit C. That is what I do.

Two words:
CHICKEN SOUP! :thumbsup2

I have some on the stove right now. I cannot wait for it to be finished. :cool1:

It's the old jewish remedy. I tell you, it works every time.

I second the chicken soup...and alot of tea with honey - they seem to work wonders for me when I am sick. Actually I am battling a nasty chest cold right now...I was going to try Mucinex but it is so expensive I can't really afford that this week so I went with Robitussin instead

Also when I have nasal congestion, nasal sprays really help me get through the cold alot easier.

Feel better soon:sick: :thumbsup2

Go to Starbucks and buy some Tazo Black Tea. It's nice and strong and after a couple of days of drinking it (make it thick---use two bags) put some honey in it and it works.

plain mucinex with lots of water, and rub vicks vaporub on the bottom of your feet :)

I agree, although I haven't used Zicam. I use Cold-Eeze, which is a Zinc-based product. And DH swears by Zinc supplements. Begins these things early though, as soon as you feel any symptoms and they will shorten the duration. Not sure how much they will help once you already have the cold.

Although it's meant to ward off a cold, I also use Airborn during a cold. The extra vitamins and minerals seem to help.

NyQuil is also a favorite. I find that sleeping through most of the nasty stuff is the best. At least you aren't conscious of the misery! :rotfl:
