I have been offered and always turned it down , so ifyou have it what has been your experience i know you get 5 percent off your purchase and that wouldn't be all bad because ia'm a target junkie.

Use mine all the time, comes right out of my checking, save extra 5% and help my daughters school earn money:cool1: at the same time. What's to lose?

I love using my Target debit card for the extra 5%. Also, if you use it to purchase prescriptions, they send you a card for 5% off your purchase. It is an all day pass an you pick the day, but it has an expiration date about a month from when you receive it. You use the pass with your Target card so basically that entire day you get 10% off.

The only thing I would want to point out is that at least with my bank, it takes 3-4 days after the purchase to get taken out of your account. I have Chase bank, so maybe it differs depending on the bank.

Just got mine and love it! I almost broke down and got the credit card because I hated missing out on the 5% however I hated the idea of paying another monthly bill. When I found out that they offered debit (thanks to disboards) I jumped on it! Works just like your bank debit card- need to use a PIN and can get cash back. I love the 5% savings!

I got my about 6 months ago and I've been asking myself why I didn't do it sooner!!! Love the 5% discount and the 1% for my girls' school. It's a win-win. Like the PP said, it does take a few days to come out of my checking account. I use Wells Fargo. Works just like debit. I've had no issues. It also makes returns easy because if I lose my receipt it's on the card. You won't regret getting one!!

Wow, I didn't even know you could have the card be a debit card!!! Love these boards!! I assumed it was a cc and just didn't want that hassle, but have considered it as I'm a big Target shopper. Now that I know its a debit card it becomes a no-brainer!! Thx!!

Fully agree with everyones comments- we love the Target Red Debit card. Instead of using my bank debit card I just swipe my Target debit and instant 5% savings. We buy quite a few grocery items there since they are cheaper than local grocery store on many items. I figure we spend an average of $100 per week and that 5% adds up to at least $260 savings per year :)

FYI- when you apply Target needs a blank check from the account you will be using. I applied for mine at the service desk and they gave me a paper debit right away. I normally do not carry a check book but happened to have one in my purse so I lucked out!

Love my Target debit card! I signed up right when my store started offering it, I think it's been at least a year now. Like others mentioned, the 5% off is great and really adds up. And it does take about 4 days for the debit to hit my bank (I use a small town bank).

Yes, I got one too because of the dis. :yay: I used it on several bigger Christmas gifts -the 5% was a nice bonus to shop at Target. I totally forgot about signing up my kids' school to get credit- will have to do that for them!

I was just looking at this on the Target website and there is a note that they are not taking the credit card applications at this time. :confused3 I can't say I've ever heard of that, but I was really wanting the debit card anway so it didn't matter too much to me but thought it might help someone else.

We just got the credit card in Dec. (I won't own a debit card!). I love it. It was fast to get and easy to use.

Same happens to me as well. I wonder if it's really processed like a check? Usually checks take a few days to show up. The first time I used it I was worried something went wrong and I wasn't actually charged for what I bought. OK I wasn't that worried, but I did wonder. Then a few days later out the money went. Love saving the 5%, extra 5% if you fill scripts and free shipping on target.com and not having a credit card to worry about.

I use my southwest airlines credit card for every purchase and am trying to figure out which would be better for me to use, the 5% from Target or the points on Southwest.

I got the debit card a few months ago. I was (and continue to be) leary of anything being tied to my checking account but I use the Target card often and have saved some $$$$ during the Christmas season (5% adds up).

FYI: They are currently not taking applications for the Target Visa card that could have been used anywhere that VISA was accepted but are still taking applications for the Target store credit card. :)

I have the Target Credit Card and thinking of switching to the debit card. Why do you ask??

My name is Michelle and I am a Target-holic. It has been 20 hours since my last trip to a Target store...

I was in Maui during the whole spend $50 & get a $5 gift card promotion last month where people were buying Disney gift cards. I was getting the shakes just reading the posts and there is no Target on Maui!

Their credit card is a store card only so you can only use it at Target. they used to offer a Visa or Mastercard thru a bank but don't offer that anymore.

You can get either a bank debit card or a Target charge card and both provide the 5% discount. You need to sign up in the store for the charge card and can do it when checking out, it takes all of about 3-4 mins!

I went to Target yesterday and used my Red Card debit card to buy Disney gift cards at 5% off :)
