I did about a month ago and the phone was not activated, but appeared to be working fine and I shut it off gave it to DD yesterday for her birthday and now it just spontaneously shuts off and won't turn back on and goes to a "fatal black screen"., we've done the reboot after multiple tries it's currently up and running again, but I wonder if anyone else has had trouble. I didn't take it to apple because we didn't have applecare and previous to the little little crack it had been working perfectly. It's an Iphone 4.

I will add that this DD is awful awful awful with phones, so did she do something in the first 24 hours -- possibly :rotfl: but she says no and she's been dying for an iphone so I would think that for at least the first 30 days she's been careful :rotfl:

I don't know the answer to your actual question, but I would recommend encasing that phone in something like a Lifeproof case. I bought one of them for my 4, and inside the first week forgot I had put the phone on top of something, whipped the something off of where it was, and the phone went flying. It was totally fine, yay Lifeproof case! If she's terrible with phones, protect it.

It's a pain to put on and to make sure it's truly, FULLY, on, but it's a good case.

I personally have not. My son worked for Aple for several years and his advice was always let Apple fix it. They use Apple authorized parts.. If you have Apple fix it and then have problems then they will make it right. Maybe you could take it to an Apple store and at least let them diagnose what is wrong with it so you will know how to proceed. I do agree with the PP. Put it in a protective case. Lifeproof or Otterbox since your daughter tends to be hard on phones.

My friend did. When her phone had another problem she took it to apple and they wouldn't even touch it because it had a screen other than theirs.

Yes I just asked my son. Once someone else services your phone they won't do anything.
