We just bought DD a digital camera for a xmas present and I was thinking of purchasing one of those all in one printers so that way she can utilize printing the photos she takes. The copier part would also come in handy when she needs to make copies for school and DD had already put on her list a scanner.

I'm just wondering how good these all in one machines are. I most likely will purchase a Lexmark or an HP, but the ones that are between $78 - $98.

Anyone have any info? Are they worth purchasing or should I just take her digital camera to the store to get prints?

I have a Lexmark---but, I have not used it yet to print out photos. I use my to copy and scanning into my files.

I just got a brand new one....It's a Dell brand printer and I adore it! It's photo quality and the biggest selling point for me were the printer cartridges. They have a high capacity printer cartridge that sells for $5 more than the regular printer cartridge and you get twice as much ink. It was $108 with tax, shipping and printer cable.

I just bought one last week at Staples. A Hewlett Packard one. So far we love it!!! I can even plug the digital camera directly into the printer to print without going though my computer!

We love it!

Just keep in mind what you plan to use it for and remember that you get what you pay for. We'd gotten by with a cheap printer for many years, but recently bought the HP PSC 2510 Photosmart All-In-One. I love it. I can fax, scan, copy, print photos (even has the little slots to print right from the memory stick rather than the computer if I choose), and its on my network - so everyone in the house can use it. I have no complaints and I've used every feature. I think I paid $299 for it about 3 months ago.

I have a Lexmark and it does pretty good, If I really like a picture, or want to frame one for someone, I'll go get the picture printed at Wal-mart for better quality. I am very happy with mine.

I've got an HP PSC 1210 for under $100 - not including tax (we have none in Oregon) or printer cable.

It does good prints in color and B&W
The scanner has a good resolution
It copies pretty quickly and the quality is very close to printing directly.

I haven't done a lot of photo printing because I haven't been happy with the results. However, I think this is more to do with the photo paper I bought (cheap) than the printer.

I have an Epson CX5200. It is an all in one. I highly recommend it. Very easy to use, even for the computer illiterate. It produces great pics, but remember, no pic from a computer printer has the quality of a photo lab pic. Inkjet printers basically spray the ink on the paper. Once the ink dries it is still possible to scrape the ink off with your fingernail. Also, printing pics on your own can really eat up the ink. This can become expensive, very expensive. I found a local photo lab that charges $.19 a pic. The quality is the best, and I can upload the images to them. So I only have to make 1 trip, just to pick the pictures up.

We have an HP 1350 all-in-one and love it! It was just under $100 when we bought it last year. They may have a new model out now, but we really like ours-- it even has a 7-in-1 card reader.

We got the 6110 and love it. It's still over $200 tho.

I have an HP1350 all in one. I make color prints all the time. these are photo quality pics. It also has ports on the front that will take all the media storage devices that digital cameras use. You can even print the pics with out the use of the PC. I use it with a kodak easy share 6330 digital camera and it is great

I have the HP 1210 like LisaZoe. I got it in August from Sam's for right at 80 bucks. I think it was 85 with tax. LOVE IT! The scanner is higher quality than the 1350, which is more expensive, but you can't plug the camera straight into it. I don't want to since I want to look before I print and only do certain ones. It prints very high quality and does not require a printer cable (most new printers don't) as it plugs into the USB port. It does come with that cable. I can't say enough good things about this printer! I'm an HP girl all the way though....

We like our lexmark, but we have to get ink somwwhere besides w-m if wewant to print photos,, seems like the color is offf with walmart ink ,, we order ours when ever our buddy in radio replaces his:)

We have a Lexmart and I like the unit. I don't print pictures with it though so I can't help you out there. The store that I take my pictures to is pretty cheap and I can do all the pictures on-line and send it to the store and pick them up the next day. I figure that the expense of the ink and buying the photo paper isn't worth it for me.

I bought the HP 2410 All in One a couple of months ago. I need the fax machine most.

I even bought the fax machine after seeing the HP demo at Costco, but DH was very persuasive that I went back and got the All in One and return the fax machine. The thing that sold him is that he is a new photographer...the guy doing the demo printed out two pictures he'd taken at the Polynesian and they were incredible...the colors were dead on accurate.

It's also nice to not have to find the card reader to upload the compact flash.

If you don't need the fax machine, Costco had a good HP for around 120.

I'm glad DH convinced me to go for the all in one...now I just have to get around to ebaying all the other stuff that was on the desktop!

If you are going to be serious about printing digital photos, I would seriously advise against a all-in-one printer for that task. My philosophy is the right tool for the job. We have a HP OfficeJet 7310 All-in-One for basic printing, scanning copying. it does color printing, and I'm sure would do an adequate job for photos, but you have to ask yourself about the long term quality of the photos. Will the ink last 75+ years without fading? (Importatnt for scrapbooking)

We have Canon i9100 Photo Printer for photos.

The ink is the same quality in all HP printers that are the same "generation". I did extensive research on that since I am a bigtime scrapbooker! That said, I don't print too many of my own pictures because I'm not good at it...I usually leave that to the professionals. Just a personal preference, and now that we have a new digital camera that I love I'm sure I'll learn-if not I'll just make DBF do it. ;)
