My DBF has had triple-bypass surgery 9 months ago. He still has some trouble. I was wondering if anyone has a AAA parking pass they do not need that I can use Sept.23 to Oct 1 would be appricated. Please help. Thanks.

Are you kidding? After 9 months he should get another opinion. My brother almost died during heart surgery in February and is back to work. Join AAA. For $65.00 it's well worth all the perks!

actually he just started back to work, its all the walking that gets to him.....also I happen to HAVE AAA but I didn't book through them for your information.
Now back OT..........if anyone has one please PM me or post here thanks.

Please, if you don't mind, but what does the AAA parking pass entitle you to in Disney? Is it available to all AAA members?

What different would it make if you booked through them? Obviously you didn't book through our AAA accounts either?? The discounts are only good for the person on the card, I paid extra to get my son on. Is the problem you want one with a man's name on it?

Sorry, we're using our AAA Parking Passes on our trip, but if its that difficult to walk I'm sure you could contact guest services, or speak with someone at the plaza regarding special needs. I'm sure if you bring something from the doctor about him being unable to walk long distances it wouldn't be a problem.

Have you tried to call AAA and request one? I know my local office will give you one if you are a member, without booking a disney package through them. :)

Personally at most of the parks you do less walking by just parking in the regular areas and riding the tram. I know at Epcot you do quite a bit of walking once you are in the AAA parking area.

Rather than asking to borrow something from strangers, let me suggest something that would be of use to him ALL of the time, not just at WDW. Go through your state Department of Transportation and apply for a handicapped parking placard (or whatever your state's equivalent is). These applications usually only require a form or a letter from a physician explaining why the applicant has a medical need to park as close as possible.

If walking were a problem, is going to disney a good idea?
I agree with safetymom that you will do less walking by taking the tram.

I am waiting to get the handicap permit..NYC has a bad habit of taking FOREVER to issue it and send it. I wanted one in case his permit isn't here on time. And yes...I think going to Disney is a GOOD idea. He has been very depressed lately ...feeling like I will leave him because his heart isn't good and silly stuff like that. This trip is a moral booster for him. Other people have asked for a pass on this board before...I don't understand why people are being so mean to me about why I need or want one. I had someone that was willing to give me one..but she won't have it in time for my trip. Where are all the nice people like her? :confused3 :sad2: :sad2:

Seriously, taking a tram will do less walking.
The reason I said it may not be a good idea, because if someone has a problem walking from their car to the gate, I am not sure whether it is a good idea to walk around the park.

I don't think people are being mean, just that it is easier and better to take the tram.
best of luck

Depends on the office, normally if you book a package (or ticket) trhough AAA, they will give you a parking pass (the AAA diamond parking pass) which entitles you to park behind the handicapped section, therefore technically it is quite close to the park. But given the handicapped section is big, personally I do not consider it being closed to the park.

Some people reported that, being a AAA member, they have success just by asking for a pass.

Some people buy them from ebay. The last I saw it was around $18 to $20.

There are ECV's and/or wheelchairs available to rent at every park and resort.

Sorry, OP, didn't mean to hijack. I hope you're able to get what you need and I hope that you and DBF have a great time!! :goodvibes

Yes, I understand that it was the reason I also pointed out I saw ebay was selling for $18 to $20.

Again, best of luck to the OP.

Poutytink-
I saw your other post about the reactions to your post here. DW & I couldn't agree more with you!

-We hope DBF has a full recovery, and is eventually able to do whatever he wants to when he feels able to do so.

-My family has been AAA plus members since 1960. I went into two different local offices looking to get a parking pass, and was told that they absolutely will not give them out with the purchase of a package through AAA. As an AP holder, AAA's pricing was much more expensive than what I was able to arrange on my own. It just wasn't worth spending $100's more to possibly get a better parking space each day, but I understand that your circumstance is entirely different. I think the suggestion of the handicap placard makes more sense. My mother has one out of necessity, and it makes a huge difference.

Good luck!

I hope you get your handicap placard in time for trip.
Actually if you park in the handicap area at the MK lot there is no tram
from the parking lot to the TCC. There are a few wheelchairs to use.
My advice for the MK lot is to either park in the regular lot and take the tram or park in the handicap area and use the wheelchair.
I made the mistake of thinking I could walk to the TTC and rent an EVC.
There were no EVC's available there and no wheelchairs for use there either.
By the time I got up the ramp for the monorail I was in severe pain and on the verge of tears.
Enjoy your trip at Disney and make sure dbf uses a wheelchair or an EVC in the parks.
EVC's are more expensive but it is well the cost to me. I don't feel like I'm holding up my group when I use the EVC.
Have fun!

Last year I got the parking card when I bought my park ticket at AAA.
*********************
Just a side note, this is not the first time that a Diser has asked for this
When I got my AAA parking card last year, I had no use for it, because we did not have a car. I happen to notice that someone had posted asking for one, I mailed it to her.
.........
So, to the OP, take the responses with a grain of salt.

Another "hijack"

If you really need an ECV I would consider renting one from one of the offsite locations. As one poster pointed out... they run out at the parks!!! Plus there is a LOT of walking doing other things at Disney..... Going to DTD, exploring your hotel etc... Also, if you are staying on property the way to ge CLOSEST to the entrance is to take the bus.

I do thinks folks responded a little harshly here, but to be honest... I find threads that ask for "parking passes, coupons" etc. at little annoying because it seems to spread on itself. Person A gets one so person b now asks for one and then you get person c who got left out and whines... Just not my cup of tea.

If i get my in time i would be more than happt to send it to you. I dont need it cause i'm not going to have a car. I'll find out when i call me AAA agent next week if i'll have it in time for your trip i'm not sure thought. I'll PM you if i get it.
