Thinking about purchasing...in laws have one, but don't remember which model it is. Any recommendations?

We have one and LOVE it. I like a super cushy mattress, DH likes a firm mattress. However, once I tried the TP, I was hooked! :lmao:

My sister sat on it at Christmas, and immediately HATED it! (And I have one of the pillows, too, which she hated even more!)

Try them out - it's the only way to tell if you'll like it - you'll find people on both sides of the aisle!

Good luck! :goodvibes

Tell you sister to give it a chance :) just laying down on it I didn't like it but they were kind enough to give it up for a night just so we could try it, and I loved it! Only problem is, they don't recall which kind they have.

I have a "Bobopedic" from bob discount furniture in the northeast. Its very comfortable. My old mattress was horible. I had to change positions every few days, i would sleep with my head down at the bottom, then switch back. I couldnt remember the last time i had a full night sleep. I dont know why it took me so long to get a new one, i guess i thought i was normal.

Anyway, love the mattress. It wasnt really more than a regular mattress. I think i got the "lite" model tho. I tried both in the store and couldnt tell the difference. The only bad thing was that they made you buy a special cover or they wouldnt cover the warrenty

We have a Tempurpedic and absoulutely LOVE it!!!! Wish I could tell you what model but I really don't know. We have had ours for approximately 3 years and I sleep so much better than I ever did on springs...and, no more hip pain for me in the mornings!!

Some things to keep in mind about Tempurpedic:

The foam is temperature sensitive. The mattress will be firmer in colder temperatures and cushier in warmer temps. I acutally prefer mine in the summer, my dh prefers the firmness in the winter (we keep our house pretty cool). ALSO, very important, you cannot use any heating elements with it such as an electric blanket or heating pads.

With Tempurpedic there is no need to flip the mattress, which is very nice.

The Tempurpedic is not bouncy...the pros of that, less movement when your partner moves around to change position. The cons...less bounce for "extra-curricular" activities, if you catch my drift.

I believe the Tempurpedic comes with a guarantee where you can return it after a certain number of days or a month or something if you don't like it.

Don't spend extra on tempurpedic pillows unles you try them first. While I LOVE the mattress, I cannot sleep with the pillows.

The tempurpedic is pricey, but considering how much of your life is spent sleeping and how many health issues can be caused or precipitated by poor sleep, it seemed for us an investment in our health. BUT, we also had a memory foam mattress topper for several years so we knew we were probably going to like it...that might be a good place to start.

Good luck with your decision.

I LOVE out TempurPedic, we had the Sleep Number and I hated it. We have the basic model not a pillow top. I didn't like the pillows (they came free with the mattress) so I sold them on Ebay and bought some Memory Foam ones at Target which are much smaller. We went to a store that had them and tried them out first. Three years and we still love it, the dogs can jump up (65 lb labs) and I don't notice, I'm a light sleeper and even DH turning over used to wake me up so that's the best part for me.

We ditched our sleep number bed for a temperpedic last year. We both :lovestrucit! I can't remember the model but it's not the basic or the pillow top. We even got the adjustable w/ the massage. :worship:We got the pillows free with it. I love my pillow but DH hated his (my 19 yr old son got his).

Try them out. It was the best $$$ we've spent.

Anyone have an organic latex mattress? I am considering those and need some suggestions/helpful hints.

We just got rid of ours, not sure if it was organic or not but it was 100% latex foam. Absolutely hated it. It was very soft and my husband and I seemed to roll towards the middle. The cat urinated on it a couple of weeks ago and we had to throw it out. It was only a few years old and we paid a huge amount of money for it but I was secretly happy. Ours was a Serta if that helps.

For those that are thinking about a temperpedic, consider the mattresses from cosco or ams club. They have 12" memory foam for around $700 last time I looked. I know quite a few people who have these and some who have temperpedic and I can't tell a difference between these inexpensive ones and the basic temperpedic. The only complaints I have heard from those who have the solid memory foam mattresses, temperpedic included, is they are hot.

YES I have one. I tried a memory foam type mattress first and had to return it. It made me so hot and sweaty. The latex is supposed to breathe better. We've had ours for 5 years. No sagging, no problems. All the kids love our bed and want to sleep in it. That is the only downside so far ROFL

We tried one from costco...left it for a week or two and it never fully 'expanded' or whatever from being in the box.

I have a memory foam mattress I bought on eBay - I love it! I will never buy anything but memory foam again! Tempurpedic is a brand name, and very pricey. I don't think you need to spend their money to get a good memory foam mattress (though they are a "known" and make a good product).

I use a memory foam pillow I got at Wal-Mart for about $20 which I also love.

Just got our this week. We bought the "Cloud" and so far it is such an improvement over our old (9 year) standard mattress.

Can't believe how I can't even feel DH getting in or out of bed. Woke up this morning and DS was laying right next to me and never even felt him get into the bed.

Unfortunately there is no Ikea store in Indiana, but if you're close to Cincinnati or Chicago, it might be worth a trip to check out their memory foam mattresses. We looked at the Tempur-pedics, but the price tag was about $3,200. (Yeah, would could have waited for a sale and dickered...). Ikea's memory foam mattress was under $500 and we love it!

Wow...Ikea is definitely a possibility, I've been looking for an excuse to go to Cincinnati anyway...Thanks for the idea!

We have a memory foam mattress, not tempurpedic brand...I want to say Bergad is the brand name we got? I would definitely say go try one at a mattress store to see if you like it before buying, because people tend to either love or hate them. We have had ours for 4 years now and still love it.

We have a memory foam that we bought at Oceanstate Job Lot, queen for $450 about three years ago. We love it for the most part. My biggest complaint is that your torso sinks in more than your shoulders and can cause shoulder pain if you are a stomach sleeper. If you are a back sleeper you will love it.
