So T-mobile network on a Triband phone.

I have friends going over who are on this network and they need some tips to make sure it's gonna work as they are there for their wedding and so need to be contactable for all their guests, including me ;)

I just remember that when my phone automatically set itself to T-Mobile network everytime I called someone I had to dial in the UK dialling code etc but when i was on AT&T network I didn't have to do that at all.

Any tips ?

Hi Sam

I am on T-Mobile and use T-Mobile USA when over in Orlando, apparently it works out a lot lot cheaper than the networks that you are offered when you arrive in the USA.

I was told that when we arrive in the USA to turn our phones on and that it will start roaming and will eventually (hopefully) find T-Mobile USA.

I think its probably safer to put the full dialing codes in, but aren't most mobile numbers that are stored in a mobile phone, stored as +447830 etc??

Sorry im not too crash hot on technology.

Lisa

Thanks Lisa - all my numbers are stored as +44 but with my phone everytime I was on T-Mobile network it made me dial 0 11 before the number - also I couldn't send texts automatically I again had to put the whole number in including international code to send a text to anyone back home - it was weird and very frustrating so I just want to make sure that my friends aren't faced with the same difficulty.

It could just have been that my phone was under O2 contract I'm not sure

We are on T-mobile and used T-mobile/USA when we were out there in September. We had trouble dialling each other whilst there we had to dial using the international code.

Just got the bill in and boy was it expensive, we didn’t use the phones excessively the 'duration' on the bill was 1hr 15 mins cost £82.10. Charges worked out about £1 per minute for calling, voicemail was 90p, texts 40p and to receive calls was about 79p per minute.

We are kicking ourselves now because considered buying a couple of pay as you go phones in Wal-mart as these were reasonably priced. However decided against it because our phones were working. With hindsight this would have been much cheaper.

If your friends are regular visitors to the US my tip would be to buy cheap pay-as-you-go phones when they get there, and just top them up each time they visit

Jools:;)

Thanks Jools - as it was they went and bought new phones anyway with a different network - but it was good to know I wasn't the only one that had T-mobile difficulty :)
