Will be at IOA and US for 5 days next week and am sure we are going to get rained on. Anyone have any tips for attractions they save just in case it rains? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Scattered thunderstorms are usually in the afternoon, and only last an hour or two.
When a storm approaches, you have time to leave the park, or find shelter in a restaurant.
In your case, I'd say hotel room, rest, then come back. If you're not tired, then City Walk for happy hour.
Not sure if Spiderman and Cat In the Hat run, but even if they do, you'll be stuck in a gift shop when you exit if it's pouring. I'd rather be slamming beers in my hotel room.

We usually spent our time at the Cineplex during the rainy periods. Instead of "riding the movies", we watched them--then rode them! ;)

I've gone in the rain, during major thunderstorms and a hurricane. If there is thunder and lightning there will be announcement and most outside attractions will be halted. We just so happened to be in the Curious George area, where everyone was drenched already, but it closed down also.

I would invest in a poncho BEFORE getting to the parks, at Big Lots or Walmart, and make sure you have one for every member of your party. If you know ahead of time that there will be a full day of rain, like what we ran into back in June, the choice of the two parks would be Universal because most of their rides are indoors. The problem would only be just the walk to them.

I kind of prefer the rainy days, it keeps the park emptier for me! :p

If you're in IOA and it looks like rain, try to duck into the Jurassic Park Discovery Center. The place has a lot of interactive games and a place to eat. You can have fun while waiting for the rain to end.

If you're at USF, if you can handle going from ride to ride in the rain, it shouldn't mess up your day too much since most every ride is enclosed.
